Guildleves are set up to how each disiple levels up. They are not quests persay and do not really need to be changed. If you find them boring, simply do not do them. Just grind mobs.
Yea because they are the least effective way to level up in the game and grinding mobs solo is a lot more fun (I can't even begin to explain how sarcastic I was being there but you can imagine). Leves are the best method of leveling up and have been since release so no matter what Tanaka said then leves were the primary way to rank up in FFXIV (although he stressed that they were casual and you do them on the side). God he's become my least favorite dev.

And I also wanna get something else off my chest, the world itself. Who ever thought it was a great idea to let us rank up from 1-50 in one god damn zone? In FFXI I'm sure we all loved reaching a certain level and getting an invite to a party in a completely new zone, I remember them all, like Qufim, like Valkurm before it, like the Boyahda Tree for the first time and running through Zita and its sexy music. Instead they were like screw that, give them one giant zone, the same mobs everywhere, make the maps a pain in the ass to traverse and bland as hell with nothing great to look at and don't change the music. They'll love it! $@#! he ruined what was supposed to be the next best MMO and it would've been if he hadn't been thinking so much of how to slow us down and instead thinking of how to let us have fun. And FYI anyone who brushes everything I say aside either hasn't played the game long enough or is in complete denial. Its ok to like the game, I like it, i'm still here but I hate when people are like "herpderp jee goofy just wait a little longer", I AM going to wait a little longer but I just don't see this game getting anywhere near as good as FFXI and the world is a big part of that for me.

I don't know why people who play as DoW/DoM jobs are disappointed that all of the leves basically involve going out and killing mobs.
What a dumb response too. Go watch GWII footage for example and tell me that killing mobs in FFXIV is just as fun as WATCHING someone kill mobs in GWII. And before you tell me "then go play GWII" I'm using it as an example and I don't care to play GWII I wanna play FFXIV. I enjoyed grinding the crap out of mobs in FFXI but it felt like an accomplishment at least, at least we visited different areas in the process, and it was fresh for at least your first time through to 75. In FFXIV killing mobs is not fun and its an MMO for crying out loud, you think "if you don't like grinding" that there is an alternative? everyone plays MMOs to rank up, crafting classes are and have always been a side thing to do.

The biggest problem I see with them is that it encourages us to stay in one of three areas for 10 levels. And that tends to get super boring.

Why do you want to play it if you don't find it fun?

I have seen Guild Wars 2 gameplay. The combat is very similar to FFXIV, and many other MMOs, attacks are selected from an action bar. There's a lot of things in GW2 that look very interesting, the personal story, the dynamic events, but the combat system looks pretty standard. I haven't seen anything that would add more depth to it, such as chain attacks, combos etc.

I enjoy doing Levequests more than grinding random mobs. I'm not saying Leves are perfect, far from it. The mobs are too easy for their rank due to having much lower HP than standard mobs. The limit on the amount you can do is too low, ideally I'd like to see the limit dropped altogether. A cooldown timer on individual leves would . The mob variety is pretty poor. On several leves mob placement is poor. The balance of leve quests is poor, as people have already mentioned in this thread with most people just wanting to do Levinshower, Inferno, Dunesfolk, and few others.

So then great, we agree. That's all my point is and imo they should be perfect.

Any leve that involves running back and forth between the same 3 locations needs to be overhauled.

And you don't give an idea as to what the perfect leve is...

Its not my job, otherwise I'd be making video games instead of sitting on my ass in front of a computer screen bitching about a game. And I already generalized what I think consists of a good leve, something that isn't a time sink built on running around for 15 minutes of the half hour leve and something that has more to do with the combat itself rather than the time wasted. The leves as they sit right now are even worst than straight out grinding, this might be in large part due to the battle system but whatever the case they need a lot of work.

So you're complaining for the sake of complaining, and what you described is, in fact a battle leve. Is running to your location that atrocious to you? Do you want more mobs for your exp? And what part of grinding do you want in the leves?

Yes, even adding additional spawn points on the path between the points so you aren't going from one end to the other all the time.

Let me put it this way for your pretty brain. I'm an engineer, I build a sky scraper, a gust of wind comes over and knocks it down causing chaos. You, a bystander, lost a car in the incident when the skyscraper landed on it, but you're generous you don't file a lawsuit against me but instead you file a complaint saying that in the future the skyscraper should be stiff enough to resist the wind. Would you be complaining for the sake of complaining? would I, as an engineer, expect a clueless bystander to tell me exactly how to brace my building? no and no. I'm complaining because I want them to listen, but I'm not the creative mind behind the game to tell them how to fix it. If you like the leves the way they are, great, go play them...but Its stupid to think you wouldn't like them more if they change them up. Just because the "norm" is bland and boring doesn't mean it has to be in this game. You're in a mindset of "this is how its supposed to be"...nothing is set in stone.
