For different reasons (for example: for me it is fly-in fly-out method of employing) not every player had opportunity to track FFXV: ARR changes. Now the choice of starting city-state is not obvious. Some players made a mistake in their starting city-state. It makes the game process psychologically uncomfortable.

I don't really see the need.
Aside from a few starting quests and cutscenes, everything's basically the same. Hell, you're not even considered a legal citizen where you start.

My main problem is that there's no free way to enter/exit La Noscea when you can just run between the other two. But that's another problem entirely.

you start in the state that has the guild for whatever class you are. it makes sense, and it tells you exactly where you will start in character creation. beyond lvl 20, it has almost no bearing on your character anyhow....

I felt the same way, that they needed to give us a choice of where we started. People always defend the lack of choice with: "It doesn't matter, you're only there until 15 and then you choose your loyalty when you do your Grand Company."

That isn't an excuse.

The story quest is quite different in each area (though with mirrored fights) and the Scion you're with is different in each area. To some people that makes a big difference and is important. I know it was for me.

That being said, there is a reasoning for it. Your class quest and hunting log monsters are all in the area your guild is in. And if you're starting a new character, you can't actually pick up a second class until you get to level 10. So it's kind of a necessity on new character servers. There's enough reason for them not to change it. So if you want to be from a specific city, just choose to start as a class from that city. If you've already chosen and didn't like it, then just make a new character and play through the story quests to 15~20. You can experience the story and go back to your main. There are no differences in dialogue after you choose your Grand Company, so there's really no reason to change your starting country.

Yes it is. When you highlight the class during character creation it shows either city as the backdrop.
As for changing it, why would you? You need to start where your guild is or you wont be able to do your class quests til past level 15 airship quest.

I learn from other players use this method; For an example, I want to be ACN [SMN] but I need to start at Gridania.

1. I create character and select CJN, Lancer or, Archer. These classes start at Gridania.
2. Reach to level. 15 [You have to complete main story quest.]
3. I go to Limsa
4. I change to ACN.
Result: I am ACN but my city-state is Gridania.

That's all. I think it probably waste your time. Keep in mind, level 1-15 is very easy to reach.

keep in mind, you are a lominsan/uldarian/gridanian (hope I remember the words right) only after you join the GC Maelstrom/Immortal Flames/ Order of the Twin Adder, before that your city state have no value

I've got the same problem. For me the starting point differs much. The Devil is in the details and the quests in different locations are not completely the same. If you play for the story it does matter where to start.

Got to beat this thread back into the Abyss. 1st Job = Starting state/city/fish market. Whats the diff? Prefer Mog that drink wine or your fellow passenger almost got hit by an arrow or chase by pirates at sea?
