Basically, work hard to get your endgame gear then don't wear it.
Yeah... at level 31 I also had enough for what I needed and a bunch of quests to do.

Wear it all you want but its plain stupid to wear it to farm monsters/fates you can easily kill with a lvl 40 weapon/armor that costs you next to nothing to repair.
Save the seals from fate grinding and spend it on dark matter to repair your raid gear after dungeon runs.
I can make 50-60k an hour as a lvl 40 farming mats without repairing once, so if you wanted you could wear your raid gear ud be cutting into your profits though.
Let the rest of the server worry about keeping the server supplied with fresh gil the sky is not falling.
I'm really happy that Gil is hard to obtain.
It should be. The economy right now is ok, but Gil should be worth even more.
High end-game gear content should not be 640,000 Gil, more like 50-75,000. Gil is almost worthless and too easy to obtain now. It should be harder. Teleports and repairs should cost more.
We are mostly spending it on repairs.
Repair bills add up insanely fast and basically nothing you can do at lvl 50 can generate more gil than it costs to repair.
To everyone who says "Sell stuff on the market d'uh!" you clearly can't see the problem. The large influx of new characters are creating a reasonable amount of gil from the non-repeatable quests. That is going to end sooner than you might expect and when the majority of the server can't keep up with repairs who the hell do you think that is going to buy your crap on the market?
People think they are so smart gathering up everything and not spending a single gil and then selling on the market for a profit. Just wait until most of the server population does exactly that.
So basically what you're saying Shadow is, not worry about the fact that gil is drying up, and just spam the Market board and take whatever is left in the economy at the moment. Then dip that into our repair costs.
That wont make matters worse at all.
Yeah, pretty bad, alot of people here, I dunno. Seems they want to make money to easy to get.
You should never be able to just log in for an hour and come out 100-200K richer. Unless you do some incredibly hard content. Rare drops should have around 1/512 chance to drop to actually justify being "Rare"
I like that, my 80,000 or so Gil I brought from 1.0, actually allowed me to gear up my guy in decent stuff. Repair costs is like 500g.
The economy is fine, could be better, but introducing MORE GIL IS NOT THE WAY TO GO.
I just read 9 pages of posts and saw 0 facts. I saw a lot of speculation, a few estimates, and a -little- anger. None of us have access to the total amounts of gil being added to or taken out of the servers. What we do know, is that SE has access to this information, and that if all of the players lose all of their gil and all of their gear is broken, they will probably stop playing FFXIV. Being a publicly owned company, Square-Enix will not allow this to happen, because that would reduce the value of their stocks. I have no doubt that as long as SE plans to run FFXIV, they will make sure people have ways to make enough gil to continue playing their game.
What im saying is there is tons of gil is being generated(not just trading hands). We have listed multiple examples of how thousands of players are generating fresh gil into the servers on an hourly basis via multiple means.
It sounds to me like you guys are crying more about how its unfun/reptitive/boring to grind/farm gil for repairs and want to not only obtain the rarest items in the game but earn money while doing so as well.
Doing ANYTHING in this game causes gear damage, thus you pay repair costs
The only option really is all the money options from quests ONLY, you will get to lvl 50 with about 300k gil
Then you run dungeons to gear up, making no gil from the dungeon, yet having to pay repair costs, if your lucky and get allagan bronze pieces you break even.
Fates can net you money just barely compared to the repair costs
Gathering SHOULD net you money for selling materials, even to vendor, but then theres the repair cost and the boredome/time
Crafting can net you money from other players, still repair costs
In the end, the goes outs at level 50 when everyone runs out of quests is greater than the goes in
I noticed this right away and I'm sure it's been mentioned but... drops hardly sell for anything to vendors, weapons hardly sell for anything, mobs in dungeons (where you have a 4-5k repair fee at 50) drop 1 gil (as if it was meant to be some kind of joke) and the coffers give you allagan BRONZE. lol, I get the feeling rather than give you any money at all they want you to suffer so no "gil farm" exists inside dungeons.
At least they're making the rmts profitable... odd how SE always manages somehow to do that.
