I understand the gripes people are feeling about wanting summoner to focus more on our pet and less on our person. I get it. But I really have to ask you...
Honestly, how do you think this job can be adjusted in the grand scope of the game to give more emphasis to the pet?
Every class in the game has to be CONSTANTLY doing something. They can't just stand there and do nothing. Whether you are a tank or a healer or a dps, you have to be casting, moving, and reacting to your surroundings. If we are more about telling a pet to do something rather than doing something ourselves, how does that fit into the game? Do we stand back and constantly cast spells that tell our PET to do something? (For example, would you prefer if instead of casting DoTs, you stood there and commanded your pet to use DoTs or attacks instead?) If you look at the functionality of it, the way they built summoner really makes 'sense'. Anything else would be a purely aesthetic difference.
Would I like to see more emphasis on the pets, and perhaps more versatility with them? Sure, I would. But I don't think reworking the class entirely to be where we just stand there and command the pet is going to work.
In the 'old' FFs, summons came in, did what they wanted, and left.
In the 'new' FFs, they stand by the summoner's side.
What if we are venturing into a new level of summoner? What if we are no longer in the 'new' era? (I personally don't mind the change because it fits the lore of the game, and although there are similarities among all FFs, I'm okay with the slight differences...)
If you have suggestions, I encourage people to submit feedback. However, I would like you to think long and hard about the real functionality behind what you are requesting. You can't just say "I want summons to be more powerful." Give more specific advice. Maybe SE will actually listen.
