I'm fine with this, as long as they also make it so that physical DPS cant move while doing an attack or it gets "interupted".
What does being in melee range have to do with the sprint mechanic? I assume you mean that you need to dodge things while in melee range?
You can dodge most aoe's without even getting out of melee range. You can run through mobs. See a breath attack coming? Just run forwards past the mob to it's back, its faster and you never leave melee range. The only time you should be leaving your attack range is to get out of circular "slam" aoe's. Plus most bosses / big mobs have circular aoe's that randomly target a distant party member, (Ifrit's eruption is an example) so mages dodge just as much as melee do.
