X XI XII XIII and soon XV the summons stay with you. I still rather have a pet that comes and do dmg and leaves over a summoner that uses DoT.Evidently you are incapable of reading... and I will quote my original post so that you can then hopefully manage to actually be intelligent.
Sans a few Final Fantasy games, mainly those after Final Fantasy 10 (not the majority of Final Fantasy games) The previous 7 games (1 and 2 did not have summoner) and even the Final Fantasy Tactic games, the summoner acquired the summon by defeating it and then they were able to use a "Summon Spell" to call them forth to use their unique attack... Ifrit = Hell Fire (or variation), Shiva (Diamond Dust) or variation, etc. However, the summons did not STAY in battle.
