btw, we all know how the game is now, 9000+thread of personal opinions and general complain like this and many others don't help much in developing something better. If your opinion is for make the game better, release some concrete feedback. (i'm not fighting you, but this is really boring right now. )

This is the undeniable truth unfortunately. At this point, the majority of us are around not because FFXIV has sucked us in but because we are waiting on what's next and because we think that whatever comes next will shape this game into something special. I'm not so sure. To me it starts and ends with the world design, where they managed to take out any craving for exploration because the world is so ugly and bland (as "beautiful" as it looks). It still baffles me on their stupid decision making through and through with this game - they never once thought that this beautiful ugly world is going to get dull fast if there is nothing in it? $@#! I'd rather have a million times more loading screens than FFXI but give us something nice to look at. SE had their priorities completely wrong with this game and whether the dev team was pressured or not, they still had 6 years to work on this game and their major mistakes came at the brainstorming table where they #@!# the bed. We'll see what becomes of it, Yoshi sounds like he's doing some great stuff, but it doesn't change the fact that the core of the game is still screwed and many things that can't be changed wont be changed.

There is concrete feedback in there if you read it.

I particularly like the comparison of Anima to $10 budget. That is how I often feel about Anima. I had been saying since Beta that simple (even weekly) quests to recharge Anima & Guardian Favor would definitely augment the system. Even if the quest was time-consuming (but not irritating or monotonous). Similar to entering the Promyvions to get the 2nd summoning ring for your Fellow in XI. It was time consuming but it made playing with a Fellow much more enjoyable.

I hadn't thought of introducing limit breaks to raise Anima or Guardian, though I was thinking just yesterday with a friend of mine (going to EU for 2 wks) it would be nice if 200 wasn't the hard cap on Guardian, so when he got back he'd have like 800 to mess around with (and use to catch up to us).

These are some of the best ideas in your post, I think.

I think they were talking about belgianrofl's topics and not the OP's I could be mistaken though.

Very nice post and I have to agree with everything you said. There is a serious lack of feeling like you accomplished anything in XIV at the moment. I loved how you talked about getting down to the dunes for the first time, getting to Kahzam etc.. they made you feel like you grew in game which was actually true. I am pretty much in the waiting line with most people here and it's a day in day out battle just to keep me in game.

My first run to Valkrum in FFXI was fun. My first run to each city state in FFXIV was fun.

Both became tedious after a while.

I was very skeptical when I saw the OP title but after reading it I must admit that it's very well written and that I agree with pretty much everything. In XI it seemed like everything you did was contributing to your character development in some way because there were just so many unlockable items.

I know this content builds up through time as the game develops but still I would like that the net result of my 2hours of play here and there is not limited to a few useless gils earned.

By the way, adding quests to increase anima and GF caps as proposed by the OP, and why not, to replenish them, would be a splendid idea.

I feel pretty much the same the game lacks a complete sense of accomplishment, I don't feel I have earned anything in this game or have anything to look forward to no milestones or goals. In FFXI there was constant progression, first it was getting to 10/11 and partying in the Dunes, sub job at 18, then to 20 and the first trip to Jeuno and getting Chocobo License, then into Qufim, then getting an Airship Pass to Kahzam, at 30 unlock advanced Jobs and so on. Thats without the story missions as well.

You were always moving around to different location and that next milestone was just around the corner. Even being able to hit that rank to equip that new piece of gear or get that new weapon just everything, FFXIV has none of that for me. Being able to equip any piece of gear, at any rank just completely deflates actually getting that piece now. Sure I could wait until the proper rank to wear it myself but it still doesn't feel like an accomplishment if I have to impose the limit myself.

Man, you captured my thoughts exactly. Every now and then in FFXI I'd stop and think "Wow, look how far I've come". The world was massive and you were stacked with goals to reach. Every new zone I discovered was exciting. Hell, I remember when I first walked into Ro'maeve and I was like "Whoah, better turn back this place looks dangerous", only to finally come back and get to Sky (which was amazing). In XIV I made it a point to check out the other cities since I assumed it would be like XI where walking from one city to another took you through a collection of different zones and completely new sights, but here it's simply [Ul'dah > walk through one zone > boat > Limsa]. I explored every zone in the game and all I could say was "That's it?".
