Steamworks, Steam Achievements and Syncing FFXIV PC to PS3 with Steamworks.

:3 I welcome any method of receiving more internet trophies. Lots of people don't care about them, since they don't mean anything to begin with, but it gives people who do a chance to share what theyre up to with their friends. Plus it seems like it would be an easy way to promote the game, if you have a bunch of FFXIV related stuff on your steam account for your friends to see.

What was the release date of those games? PSX/PS2, and Games released before Trophies were implemented on PSN are exempted from the rules. (Metal Gear Solid 4 For instance)

I don't see the point. We already have them under our history tab on lodestone.

I would 100% be for using my steam account to pay for FFXIV. Steam is a great program in my mind.

You have PS3 games without trophies because the requirement is relatively new. You're unlikely to find any official version of the certification criteria because it is released to developers under strict confidentiality agreements, but you can find a software news article about the switch to requiring them here.

There are a few people that I know who have some how (I'm not sure how it's done lol) connected FFXIV though Steam.

If you want to do this, open the main Steam window up, click on where it says "+ ADD A GAME..." and just browse to the FFXIV .exe file if it already isn't in the list of installed applications that Steam brings up for you.

You'll be happy to know Steam overlay works with it too so you can do everything you would normally be able to do with the Steam overlay like take screenshots ingame (using F12) and publish them on your steam profile so your friends can see them, and using the web browser.

I think what this thread is discussing is different to the achievements you can view via the lodestone, but rather introducing a seperate set of trophies which would show up on the player's XMB for the PS3 version.

Actually I just want to see them use "Buy it for PS3 get it for PC Free" as a marketing ploy to be honest.

lol, I see. But still, it would be good if they take in to consideration your achievements/ trophies idea too.

Absolutely agreed. When I log in to FFXIV (once every two or more weeks) I run the game through steam. It is also the solution to being able to browse the web while using fullscreen because Steam has an overlay that it uses on top of games.
