Steamworks, Steam Achievements and Syncing FFXIV PC to PS3 with Steamworks.

There are a few people that I know who have some how (I'm not sure how it's done lol) connected FFXIV though Steam. Whenever they start up the game it pops up on my friends list that they are playing FFXIV, it's nice to know when my friends are logging into the game.

I think that it is a perfectly legit idea. Those who do not wish to use Steam or don't have Steam and don't wish to go those the hassle of setting up Steam because they can see the info on their lodestone don't have to use it.

Those who wish to use Steam, or download Steam to use it in such a manner would probably love this idea. Also those who already have Steam would probably love to show off their achievements to their friends who also play on Steam. I know I enjoy seeing what my friends have done, and love to show off what I have done as well.

So seeing that it would not be required to use Steam, but would be there for those who DO wish to do this and implement it I see no problem with recommending this. For those who don't like the idea, well they wouldn't have to do it so there is no reason to say its a bad idea. If there is someone who feels its a bad idea or doesn't want to use it in such a manner then they simply don't activate it if it does happen.

I like the idea, would be interesting to see if they would do it, seeing (as someone else already stated) that FFXI is already accessible though Steam as well.

If you want to do this, open the main Steam window up, click on where it says "+ ADD A GAME..." and just browse to the FFXIV .exe file if it already isn't in the list of installed applications that Steam brings up for you.

You'll be happy to know Steam overlay works with it too so you can do everything you would normally be able to do with the Steam overlay like take screenshots ingame (using F12) and publish them on your steam profile so your friends can see them, and using the web browser.
