Would you really want the best armor in a game buy-able? Crafted gear is there for those who would like an upgrade FOR the dungeon/raid needed to obtain even better gear. "Working as intended"

There should be layered levels of gear.
Assume:
A is the best
B is 2nd best
C is 3rd best
Raiding gear should be "A quality" but have a system where craft material drops so there is also a "raid-tier" of gear.
Dungeon/Crafting gear should be "B quality".... You can take the time to do a dungeon or level up a crafter. (Why not?)
Quest gear should be "C quality"..... The stuff you get for reaching the level cap. (And maybe low tier of crafted gear as well)
World of Warcraft has a similar system to this game, where dungeons and raids yield the best gear. Maybe a few patches there were crafted pieces which required raid drops. FFXIV uses this system but at the same time has a huge crafting system for nothing.
Perhaps you didn't read Promethev's post about the darklight costing less tomestones than the crafted armor?
Totally agree.
Not only does it cost way more in terms of effort, the only way for it to be competitive is to HQ every piece, in which it does come out on top due to materia slots, but the requirements are just massive. I would love to see more craftable gear which is more competitive.
I think gear in this game is just too easy to get in general though.
As soon as you hit level 45 you get 4 pieces of AF gear which makes any crafted loot completely worthless until the ilvl 70 stuff.
The crafting system is so awesome but it leaves a lot to be desired when you can just get all the gear at the low/mid levels from quest rewards, and then late game get better stuff by grinding out dungeons.
