Hotbars and gear sets not saved

I play on my laptop during the day while away from home, I play on my desktop at night (obviously better performance and graphics etc). Here's the problem. The gear sets and all of the hotbar information appears to NOT be saved when I switch computers. What I mean is - say I just hit level 38 and got a new ability while playing on my laptop. I put it in the desired spot and rearrange all my icons to make for an optimal rotation with the new ability. I go to play on my desktop pc and that new ability is not there and they are arranged the old way. Gear sets are the same. Every time I get an upgrade to a piece of gear while playing on my laptop and save the set I have to go equip it AGAIN on my other computer and save the set AGAIN. This of course complicates things a million times over. Solution SE? I cannot for one iota of an instant believe that this is intended behavior...

Your hotbar and gear sets are saved but only to your local computer so if you change to different computer or play on PS3 you will not have access to your already set up one until you return to the computer or PS3 that they were set up on

Gear sets and hotbars are saved client side, not on the servers. This frees up more memory for other systems. I switch between the PC and PS3 and have to do this quite often, but it's not really that difficult to deal with, personally.

FFXI was the same way cause yes could save marcos to server but a lot of people did not know that or know how to do it, although they have stated they are looking into doing the same thing with XIV saving hud and stuff to the server.

Sure it's not such a big deal if you don't have to update 21 gear sets and about 5 different classes worth of abilities and rearranging and memorizing which slot you put each action in so you can get muscle memory properly trained....at LEAST twice a day....

Just how much work are you doing which means that you obtain new abilities and out level gear for 21 classes twice a day on a daily basis...?

I don't know if this is any help, but on the PC your character data is stored in your Documents directory in a subfolder of:

    My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\FFXIV_CHR0000000000000000

The 16 digits will change as they're specific to your character and you'll likely have one of those folders for each character. While I know it's hardly the most convenient, if you copy that entire directory over to another computer in the same place (overwriting the existing files) it'll copy your hotbars etc with it.

Hope that's of some help! Unfortunately that won't work with someone playing on PC and PS3 though.
