    tanking 101

several things in regards to tanking....
    1) always turn the mob away from the group so they dont get frontals
    2) always tab target thru all the mobs and hit each mob with a threat gen attack to keep threat on all targets
    3) always keep an eye on the healers mana before you pull dps mana doesnt matter
    4) always make sure no mobs are hitting your healer if they are hitting dps its ok
    5) if a dps decides to unload on a mob before u grab aggro then let the dps tank it, trust me he will learn real quick to let you do your job
    6) just remember this simple rule when your analyzing whats going wrong in your party....

if the tank is dying a lot you got a weak healer or an improperly geared tank
if the healer is dying a lot you got a weak and/or improperly geared tank
if a dps is dying a lot then that dps is an idiot just let him die

its dps job to check their aggro and watch their damage, a good dps will know how skilled or unskilled their tank is after the first 5 minutes combat

    1) Right
    2) Right
    3) Wrong, The healer should be checking their own MP, its there job to heal, thus its their job to check themselves, not get the tank to check for them.
    4) Quite right. Its the Tanks responsibility to keep mobs off of everyone, and tanks cant be everywhere at once, that's where DD's and DPS comes in to back up the healer.
    5) Wrong, The tank was meant to grab aggro first, Its our jobs as tanks to let the mob hit us and take full damage whilst we get healed.
    6) Its not that all as "simple" being a tank can be quite challenging. And the responsibility we need to take to ensure aggro and keep things flowing while we mark the targets to keep a flow.

Why wouldn't you check the healer's MP before pulling? It's just common sense and takes two seconds.

Yes, especially when it is very messy and things are going at fast pace like in the dungeon. Healers might not have enough time (or typing skill/speed) to say low MP, and then if the tank pull a large group of enemies, that will spell disaster. I also agree that it IS tank's job to glance at mage's MP BEFORE pulling.
