Why exactly being able to parley through main story is a bad thing? Have you ever played Fallout series (disregard FO3 but include FO:NV)? Being able to talk the big bad evil to kill itself is the most epic moment of the entire series and arguably what set it apart from other RPGs as well as making it classic (and successful financially). Of course they need to make the parley/persuasion part making sense for the story, but having it is doesn't in any sense making it bad.

@Magiksmurf: What if that fukking fat cook uses his wit, words and luck to save the entire land from the dark force? Wouldn't that make the story 10 times more epic than the use sword and sorcery cliche?

Then make that happen instead of giving people 5 minutes to line up like objects in a rotating line better than a retarded NPC.

Or better yet, make the cook........ wait for it: cook something beneficial to the situation? Since, you know, that player likes cooking so much they can't be bothered to level a DoW/DoM.

Every mission past rank10 should end with a party boss fight. Parlay, cutscenes, whatever, that's cool, but after that we should get an epic boss fight that requires multiple people. Make it level capped too.

yes the op is correct. missions are a frickin joke. no party play, parley gets boring after one or 2. crafters as a class in itself is a joke, it's no different from any other game. they can't do shit in party's. they craft, they are crafters, nothing else. please bring back full on party play in missions, give us what ffxi had with this, it was done frigin fantasticly in ffxi. lots of story, lots of bosses, lots of party play (give us waaaaay more then ffxi had and u Win) this is gonna be one of the most important parts of ffxiv that i think will make or break it. it defines the difference between it and any other mmo out there.

gimmie my 2.3dragons, my end bosses (granted we not at end of story, so what, what we do have is a preminition of the biggest let down in all of ff series ever) lots and lots of bosses, and make them all caped so we can play them at the the level of difficulty meant to be played at, hell do this with side quests too, u added them and most the server is 50. and near the end of ffxi life people just solo'd stuff not cause it's prefered but cause it just was doable that way and easier. caps, caps, caps maybe add difficulty levels or options to do them repeatably solo. anything will be better then what we have now. tyvm.

Well maybe not every mission, but definitely a decent amount of missions should end with an actual boss battle that requires a party. I know these missions were in before Yoshi-P took charge, so how Tanaka did something like this in XI and not in XIV is strange.

This thread needs more attention so i'm bumping it. I just did my R30 quest and aside from how horrible *the option* to parley is, the quests themselves are stupid and monotonous. For example, without giving any spoilers, at the end of the R30 quest my "NPC party member" says that he "...have enough anima to teleport back to Gridania, see you there." I'm all the way in Thanalan by Drybone, why the heck does he just not give me a ride with him? all the story quests have been built around a time sink...run here, run there, run back here, run there, a little more, more, moreeeee, moreeeeeeeeeeeeeee, ok now come back, (cutscene), run again. A quest will literaly have you run from Ul'Dah to Gridania just to tell you to run back. Stupid design and its not fun at all. Dumb dumb dumb design philosophy - you don't keep your fan base by sinking their time with stupid mindless running, you keep them by giving them something fun to do so that their experience will keep them coming back. Fix it please and get rid of parley and make the battle fun and challenging....leave them soloable for all I care, but screw crafters, if they wanna do storyline they can find someone to party with them or change classes.

I don't mind playing mini games to complete quests in fact it can be fun if done correctly but who ever designed the Parlay minigame needs to find himself a new job. The guy that decided that it was a good idea to force the player to suffer through 4 or 5 different Parley games in order to complete a quest needs to be taken out back and beaten repeatedly then fired.

I am all for adding minigames to FFXIV and but if you are going to add them make sure they are games that are fun and of the quality we would expect from a major developer such as SE.

don't forget these are the idiots who created the horrible colloseum battles and the stupid chocobo races. i don't think ffxi had any enjoyable mini games or side things to this nature. i never played the card game but i wans't ever willing to pay extra for it plus if not part of the acual game it means nothing to me i rather go play a real game offline. (that quote itself, a "Real Game" instead is a big point, it needs to be good enough to feel u'r not waisting u'r time over doing this.

maybe add like 100 diff little games and make em lot harder so if anything u just gotta repeat that same one many times to win and figure it out. but all the others can be different and just as difficult then ok. it's just a time sink that isn't fun after the first one. then maybe u can add all of them out of quests somewhere to play when u want (if u want) add cosmetics to it or something i dunno, but like i've said this dont work over replacing real battles with real mobs. ffxi had lots of quests and i enjoyed pretty much all of them, and lots had mini bosses and fun stuff in them.

and again i say make them with caps for crying out loud, for one thing most of us our above the levels for them. second those who aren't might miss them b4 they do level up. they are too easy to just run threw. with a simple cap on all of them u turn a simple mini quest into a challenging one that u can say is up to par with last boss missions.
