I think the general consensus is that Summoner is a waste of time for anything requiring a tight DPS check.

Lol then you have some bad SMNs my friend. I speed run AK constantly and my fastest run was with 2 SMNs. Demon Wall didn't make it past the 3rd push. If it's burst dps then yes SMN is lacking but overall SMN dps is very good if played right

This is really impressive given the non-legacy status. Congrats.

Its almost to the point where Legacy and Non-Legacy is equal. Legacy's only real remaining advantages are materia, but ilvl90 gear is stronger than materia gear and the ilvl 70 DL is nearly identical to the much more expensive crafted gear. And then of course, job flexibility. There's been enough time that has passed where non-legacy should have sufficient L50 crafters and gatherers and enough time has passed for them to have full ilvl70 Darklight/relic (which is what legacy players are using for the most part) on at least 1 job.

There is no true consensus on SMN output. We haven't explored its potential in Coil yet. Looking at the other groups doing Coil now, there's a fair amount of job versatility which is really cool to see.

Do you guys plan to try and bring a summoner into Coil anytime soon? Dying to hear how they fare, especially from a very well tested, educated source like you guys. =)

Not sure I agree with you. The title of the thread is "Binding Coil of Bahamut Discussion". So long as the discussion is about how certain classes might fare in the coil progression, I feel it contributes well to the topic at hand.

Just a heads-up: we've had two occasions now where our groups have gotten stuck in Turn 2 after wiping. Basically, the game tries to return everyone to the entrance, but it infinitely hangs, and when you recover by restarting the client, everyone is stuck, dead, unable to return, move, etc.

We cleared Turn 2 with a Summoner DPS, and continue to use one. They are definitely raid viable in the end game. You will have to put in a lot of effort though, especially in keeping your pet alive.

In Coild of Bahamut, a comparison between BRD, BLM, and SMN. Do you think which one is the best?
I think that BRD probably be most useful there? SMN gonna have a hard time to keep pet alive if the timing is tight, and BLM probably couldn't cast so much spell too if they need to evade often.
