It's a huge, boring mess of odd hills, crevices, repeating features, and tunnels filled with moles. Kind of like every other zone.

Idk. I look at the map and I see Each the area around each camp and Aetherial node look very much different from each other, including areas off to various directions. Especially South Bloodshore, The Isles of Umbra, and Moraby Bay. It is the only starting area that has a unique look to each different area. Plus the music is the best of the 3 starting areas. Nevermind the few caves with moles.

The only place slightly unique about The black shroud is where the sylphs live, northeast of Nine Ives. Thanalan is pretty much the same everywhere you go.
