Off Topic Forum

So why can't we have all that here aside from the fact that there is no off topic forum? Why should we have to go somewhere else?

Because SE made this as a forum to discuss FFXIV. If they wanted Off Topic here they would have put it as an option from the beginning. They wanted this to be a place where players could come and give their opinions about the game and how we can improve it. Not to talk about which cake mix is better.

The purpose of this forum is for players to discuss various topics on FINAL FANTASY XIV with other players.

Because SE made this as a forum to discuss FFXIV. If they wanted Off Topic here they would have put it as an option from the beginning. They wanted this to be a place where players could come and give their opinions about the game and how we can improve it. Not to talk about which cake mix is better.

Maybe they were unaware of the problems not having an off topic forum would cause.

I personally like this forum having a purpose and not being a random jumble of whatever people feel like posting. If people do post something off topic it's usually taken care of quickly. This is about FFXIV, thats what its for thats why its here and it's nice. If they do make a Off Topic area I probably won't even go to it because I am here to make the game better. Anyway you seem to be going in a circular logic now so I'm just gonna stop posting and bumping this thread.

Well considering even SE made a thread about the earthquake... people have explained this before. The earthquake effected Japan and caused power problems seeing that one of the power plants that powers Tokyo was effected. SE is in Tokyo, and therefore was effected. Seeing that this is only a few hours from Japan, it could have, and did, effect game service with FFXIV and with SE causing shut downs and delays in the updates in the game and the ability to play the game.

Remember the almost two week shut down of the servers, happened due to the earthquakes. So yeah I can see how that could be related to the stability of the servers and therefore the game seeing that the Earthquake and Tsunami were close to Tokyo and Toyko got earthquakes as well, where SE is based.

Actually there's no circular logic about it. It's kind of straight forward. No one had put anything forward to back up a reason for not having off topic other than "because they didn't put one in." That's fine if you or anyone else don't go to Off Topic forums. That's the point. All the topics you don't care about will be in one place and easy to avoid. You wouldn't even have to look at them and the harmless people that want to talk about baseball or what ever will have a place to talk about it.

1) This topic isn't about earthquakes or anything else other than the need for an Off topic forums.

2) Yes an earthquake and resulting damage to power plants took down the servers however I don't see anything in that thread that ties it to FFXIV at all what so ever and would best be placed in an off topic forum or held to the forums own policies.

3) No more about anything to do with recent news and events please. Lets keep this on topic.

That thread wasn't about the initial earthquake.... You should read it before assuming it was about the servers getting shut down.

It wasn't about the initial earthquake..but was about a new one that, guess what? Could affect FFXIV and SE even more.

Can everyone now please try to stop finding a little hole so you can 'demand' an off topic forum? It WILL give needless work to the moderation staff (which is probably the inital reason why they didn't create one anyways) and, as you can see from this very thread, has minimal community support (IE: two people). Have a nice day, night or whatever time it is currently in your timezone.

You're wrong the way it is now there is needless work. Again the devs will only have to worry about harassment and not off topic posting.
