I'd rather have a larger pool of players for grouping than a slightly lower ping, tbh. EU servers are always less populated in every MMO.

This is simply not true. Just look at the european servers now; they're BRIMMING with people. Every single one of them are CONSTANTLY full.
I'm even playing on the same server as you man, we definitely don't need more people.

I know, but it's still free month, many will leave after it ends. Plus, if arrstatus is correct, I have a ping of 80ms which is about the same that I have in WoW EU located servers. I believe most of the lag problems some people have are due to temporary launch server congestion rather than distance. And since the cross server grouping includes the NA ones, you'll get people to team up no matter what time you log in.

If you would actualy read what's stated at the arrstatus you would know that: "The values displayed (ex.80ms) represent the delay between ARRstatus.com and FFXIV servers." So no, you probably have higher pings than those displayed at the arrstatus.
