My thoughts exactly. Game lacks that spark, that magic that draws you in and makes you want to explore. These last several updates I find myself logging in for maybe 20-30 minutes after each one has been implemented, then not logging in til the next one. Maybe I'm not giving this game enough of a chance to hold my interest but since playing the beta, I feel the same - that it is lacking "soul". The "cut & paste" landscape may seem insignificant to the makers but it seriously detracts from the experience of the game for me. It takes me out of experience. A good director always shows the audience what he wants them to see in every shot - nothing is arbitrary. This is what needs to happen with FFXIV, and is something I miss when I was first playing FFXI. This is what should be their full focus, and all the cosmetic changes and fixes seem only to distract and placate. I may not have a full picture from those of you that have been playing throughout the release, but for me I am hanging onto a thread, hoping they will get it right.
Also, regarding the last paragraph:
I would suggest to producers to refrain from posting items on the JP side until all translations are available, since NA and EU players are also paying customers and should get equal access to the information.
