Yes, people wanting one thing from FFXI (Or even FFXIV 1.0!) certainly means they want to turn this into "FFXI-2." I hope your parachute was properly secured before taking that leap.
But hey, I guess if you don't want it, no one else does.
In his defense, this isn't the first time this has been posted (by OP or otherwise). The OP has also posted this elsewhere, with other things he'd 'want' from FFXI, and there are numerous thread of stuff wanted from FFXI. Although Neasa's post was probably done blindly and without this prior information, it is no surprise people are developing this attitude quickly, especially with FFXI still available. Hell, you have people calling other's out for wanting the game to be like WoW because they want a certain, ease of life feature that has popped up there, and isn't here yet.
I think you'd get more sympathy asking for FFXIV 1.0 stuff then FFXI, as the prior is no long available, and actually similar to the current product. Just my two cents at least.
If my posts seem short or incoherent, I am probably editing the rest in.
NM have their pros and cons, as do FATE, so I think a compromise is in order. Why do people what NMs? Isn't it because of the thrill of encountering something rare, the possibility for cool loot? But why don't people want NMs? The hours of camping, possibly loosing the claim and turning those hours into a waste?
So what would be optimal would be for the pros to be added in, but without the cons. I think the current FATE system can provide this. There are already rare monsters that spawn during FATE and there's already a system in the game for rewarding items if you do well enough.
I think both camps can be satisfied by adding in rare FATE monsters that, if you gain a gold medal, will reward you with gear instead of just vanity items as they do now.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
We had this in 1.0, but sadly due to the WoW, and bandwagon mdia the game got shutdown, and now we have 99% WoW clone.
"Add Notorious Monsters Final Fantasy XI style into Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn"
You don't like my reply to the thread title so, you choose to speak out of context.. Look Neasa, this has been discussed in the beta forum, and you know what the reps said? No. Yes, even they don't like it, which means not everyone likes it.
Putting what the OP wants in this game is contradictory to the system we have right now. It will not work.
Read above explanation..
My point still stands. Why is it bad to take ideas from XI but it's okay to put GLORIOUS LIGHTNING-SAN in ARR? How is that okay?
It isn't. If we can have Lightning in game, we could have NMs with pop timers. Besides, we already have something similar with Odin/Behemoth, which are 24-72 hour pops. But everyone has a chance at it so it's fair, right? Oh wait, you can't even see the mob because it's so congested and it's just as unfun as NM supposedly were.
Okay.
We have many ideas from FFXI, and other Final Fantasy titles that work. However, an NM claim system contradicts the purpose of cooperative play system. That is why I think its a bad idea in my opinion. My point still stands. Why is it bad to take ideas from XI but it's okay to put GLORIOUS LIGHTNING-SAN in ARR? How is that okay?

Okay.
We have NMs in FATE, which doesn't force people to camp for long hours, and to fight among each other for claims.
