Yoshida said that it's basically done and just not implemented into the game because he feels it isn't necessary and that it would be too confusing for players.

I personally disagree on both points, and hate having to look like a mismatched clown in a MMO in 2013, but Yoshida said that we'd see the "Vanity System" about 6 months after launch. No clue if that'll be delayed at all due to the launch issues. He also said that it would still adhere to class restrictions, so you couldn't be a BLM walking around in plate.

Oh class restrictions are fine and expected I just don't want to see "this is a fun peice of clothes, you can't wear it while fighting!" like GW2 and WoW does.

I'm pretty disappointed to hear that he went with the cliche "players are dumb" reason, to hold it out for now, that you see way too often now and days... :<
