pretty muchyou realize the only reason people AFK was because they couldnt log in with the very strict login restrictions. if they can get in instantly all the time they will log out. AFK only started when it got hard to log in. fix it so we can always log in and 95% of the AFK will log off.
AFKer are not the problem.. But they are adding to the problems....
In FFXI the reason you weren't kicked when connected to the server was because your character could sell items in a bazaar which people checked your character to see which made logging off not be able to do this.
In FFXIV there is no such bazaar system. I don't really mind the servers being full, at least someone is actually interested in a Final Fantasy game is satisfaction enough. They do need to fix login issues but if you know a trick or 2 you can be logged in within 5-15mins of first try. The game just launched you have to be patient and expect a surge of gameplay, it will settle down when people find bigger and better things to do with their lives.
I can't stand when games log me out for inactivity. If I want to go AFK and come back 10mins later nothing should of changed and that is the way FFXI players like it. Its such BS when you have to type in your password, type in your security code, and then wait for all the BS to load up when all I did was go afk for 10mins to go take a gd poop... or better yet when your standing next to that entrance for 15mins waiting for that last guy to start a event and the whole party gets auto kicked...wouldn't that be awesome. lol fail.
No sir, they're not. All they're doing is adding frustration of players... Whether there are AFK players or 0 AFK players, there is a HARD CAP on how many concurrent connection are allowed per server. That is an infrastructure / hardware issue. As has been prior stated, when SE fixes their hardware capabilities and loosens the cap on concurrent connections, there may still be AFKers, but they won't be noticed because everyone will be able to play.

You'll find out in roughly 8 hours, before that believe what you will.
I guess we'll just have to wait a few measly hours to see before making any rash judgements.
Speculation's all well and good, but really this is just being borderline paranoid.
And I know borderline paranoid.
