You pay for the service; you should be able to AFK. SE needs to get better servers, F2P MMOs have better servers. You're just giving SE a reason to have shitty servers, they need to invest in better servers.
Ill be jumping on as soon as servers are back up and then go afk to finish sleeping. Wake up at 6am and play until 8am. Go to work and hang out with friends and finally get home around 7pm. Play until 10pm until I go afk until I wake up the next morning. Repeat.
Don't trust SE to have the problems fixed so wont risk logging out until I know it is.
All ye with to much faith that everything will be fixed. Where is that faith coming from. Have to earn my trust and SE hasn't. I expect servers to become stable only when people give up and quit playing.
I'll run in circles to keep from being disconnected when I am AFKing ... Think I can't rig a joystick lol..
Seriously, I don't think anyone, except employees at square-enix really KNOW what is going on or what the plan is, and thats all fine and good as that's what we pay them for. Increase space you say?? Sounds like a plan to me!!
As far as AFKing.. that will never end, as said in previous posts its symptom of something else in alot of cases....
Imagine your playing final fantasy, you just logged in, your guild event starts in 15 minutes, but you got to go ! Can't hold it any more! Unfortunately, you took too long for undisclosed reasons, so the AFK timer booted you !
Why not just log back in ?? Rubberbands come in handy, if your that worried about it..
I am not...

How do you expect them to test extreme server loads without anyone on the server? What a dumb statement.

Unfortunately, the OP is right. The AFKers are going to continue to be rude, selfish, entitled brats. They're still going to take up 3,000 slots from people in other countries while they're sleeping, ruining the experience for everyone.
SE needs to at least restart the servers every 12 hours. That's an extremely easy step they can take to at least alleviate the problem. Don't even need to do any coding on an AFK timer.

That's not going to happen. People are running dungeons and doing important things in game and they need to worry about being thrown off. The afk'ers aren't really that big of a deal. I'd rather them get rid of the gold sellers and spamming bots, that will clear up A LOT of room.Unfortunately, the OP is right. The AFKers are going to continue to be rude, selfish, entitled brats. We just need more server for NA/EU, since we had more player over JP. at the current issue, some NA/EU player stay in JP server to avoid most server issue. It doesn't make sense to limit the server 1-1 ratio Japan vs global, Final Fantasy Title are name long reach oversea.

Actually any good MMO has daily or nightly restarts. Not just for afk and such. But like any computer, memory gets full. And since ram only clears when the system shuts down. Restarts on a normal schedule are important for stability... Play defiance they rarely restart. And then tell me you don't want them...That's not going to happen. Are yall still reading this...? If so, why? Kid finds forum page, gratz. Kid tries to pretend like he knows what he is talking about...futile attempt. Kid sparks replies which should never have gone past 1st reply. Wasting of site memory for something so trivial, Success!
so yeah how about that 1017
