The last instance I healed (Stone Vigil) had a tank who, bless her heart, couldn't keep threat on more than one add at a time. She thought that Flash spam would do the trick without actually, you know, hitting the mobs. Except she was taking massive damage, so I was spamming on her, and no matter how often I used Shroud, I still ultimately pulled. Every time

I had a DPS in this same dungeon blame me for not being able to heal this tank through overpulling (she pulled two packs of trash) with half of the mobs on me. To be honest, if I hadn't wanted to get the dungeon done, I would have quit. And this isn't the first time I've had the issue in various dungeons. I'm personally with Miska - I don't want to queue for randoms anymore. I don't want to put up with bad tanks and terrible DPS. So Miska better level his furry butt because he's supposed to be my damn pocket tank. >:|

Edited to Add: This sums up my feelings on the subject, because it seems to be true in every game I play when it comes to healers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWrZOa1_xlI

I have 30+ minute queues as a WHM. Nowhere near as bad as DPS queue times, of course, but I find it hard to believe that with 230000+ concurrent players, it takes that long to get a party. No, wait, I "forgot" FATEs invalidate almost everything else in the game.

This has another bad side effect as well. More than like people you will come across later on and they will have a hard time running dungeons as many of them won't know to run dungeons.
That's not due to fates, that's due to half of the arcanists going scholar and multiplying the number of healers in queue by a factor of 10 or more.

It is not that FATEs invalidate everything. Maybe it is because I play as a dps main, though Dungeon Queue times are insane. 50 minutes.... 70 minutes... Common. So what else can I do when I dry up my quests and get tired of crafting? Switch to a tank? Switch to a Healer? I don't want to and that wont solve the DPS Queue times being 50+ minutes. Most people resort to FATEs because the Duty Finder does the exact same thing to them. It isnt a fault with FATE's, its a fault with the duty finder. It is unreasonable for a game with 230000+ people to have such a long wait time for a Dungeon that is on the main story. Even fighting primals takes THAT long.

When I queue solo, it takes 30+ minutes sometimes. When I queue with my tank friend, we get in instantly. Short story: Make friends with a tank and run everything with them if you are a DPS. ^_^

As Vanidin pointed out, that has more to do with the fact that half the Arcanists went Scholar at level 30.

I'm new to ffxiv and I don't have healer or tank leveled. So it's not like I can just switch class and queue duty finder. Right now I'm stuck on the main quest until I clear toto rak. I hope after today upgrade more people can join the duty finder.

While this would help, part of the problem is we need so many dang seals for everything, they increased seals needed and they cut seal gain from fates a lot since Phase 3. So you have to farm seals like crazy to get enough.

Also there is a tank shortage in just about every MMO I have played. Not really news. It's a bad solution, but play tank if you want lower queue times.
