AF gear - handed to you for dinging 45/50

I don't think most of you are understanding the complaint that it is too easy AND not as useful as it should be. Saying "there's better gear/it's starter dungeon gear" is not the point. The point is that your AF gear should of at the very least been the first thing you work hard to obtain at 50 by running dungeons, not the other way around.

Why is there absolutely no effort or work in obtaining the class defining AF armor? At level45, you basically just have to talk to NPC's, loot bags on the floor, or open random chests in a zone that's of no danger to you. There is no effort involved, it's extremely easy.
The level50 quests are slightly harder, having an actual boss fight, but still incredibly easy.

Why doesn't AF require dungeons? Or party bosses? Why is basically "free" full blue armor upon dinging 45 and 50?

I think AF armor should be an accomplishment, and some actual work involved, would make it more fun. Maybe make the gear a bit more powerful since it would require effort.

Sure AF+1 exists, and actually requires effort and dungeons, but I don't think your class defining armor should be so easily obtained. When every single person is running around in full AF the second they ding 45 and 50, it makes it feel a LOT less special and more generic.

In 1.23 most of the AF quests required a party, especially the final Job quest in each quest line. It's a pity you didn't play 1.0 ( I assume anyway), have a look through the videos on You Tube some fun fights there.

I for one am overjoyed that basic, essentially cosmetic, gear is given to folks when they get high enough level. It's armor that lets people at least begin to participate in end game. It looks relatively pretty. The folks who want to work at getting better gear can, and the folks who want to look reasonably hawt can run around in their fancy armor.

Really it sounds like a win-win for both hardcore gamers (who still have armor to aspire to) and fashionist/as (who have something epic enough to sport in town).

AF is pretty much the same quality as it was in 1.0. I got all the AF in 1.0, and it was annoying to get especially the last piece. I remember unpopular jobs like DRG took me 5 hours of shouting in Uldah to make a group to do the lv50 drg quest because it required 8 people. Keep in mind this was starter gear in 1.0 as well only it was a pain to get people to help you. The system now is much better, no waiting around for several hours to form a group.

You, ser, are the one missing the point about AF gear.
Why is your job-defining gear the first thing you obtain, simply by gaining levels? Because when yuou acquired it you have finally fully formed the identity of your job, all your skills, all your iconic armor, now you are a fully-fledged Dragoon (for example)! Ready to step in the big boy playground, and from there on you start working on being actually, you know, more than a noob.

First you define yourself, then you get stronger. That is what you miss, you think that finding your defining points should be the challange, whereas the devs believe that transcending that is where the challange is.

Aion = Fenris/miragent set is too hard to obtain, too much grind, too much RNG, too muh rage.
FFXIV = lv50 set is to easy to obtain, make it harder.

AF was a joke to get in 1.0 also with only one mildly challenging boss fight that I cleared second attempt. It's basically the same thing now, why is everyone so surprised?
