    I miss party grinding (as a viable option)

    I know none of the cool kids do it, since their idol Frankie Warcraft doesn't, but I miss party grinding.

    Fate-grinding is far and away the fastest way to level. It's not particularly fun, but it certainly is the fastest way to level. (Bosses are fun, seeing mobs die as they pop because 40 people targeted it is not fun). At higher levels, dungeons are fun but they're a very slow way to acquire experience points.

    I wish that SE would tweak the exp-per mob so that grinding mobs was a viable option. People will learn more about their jobs grinding mobs than spamming fates anyway, although neither teach as much as dungeons do.

    I'm 45 and I think things give me 300 a kill, so literally like .08% of what it takes to level. I'd need to kill about 1200 enemies to level, that total should be more like 200, imo.

    Dungeon fights in this game are more fun than anywhere else, so I don't want those replaced, and fates are fun time to time, but I'd love to see grinding as viable.

    Edit: Some people are trying to make this about wanting the game to be FF11. No, this isn't that. I'm not asking for exping to be the only way to level, or the superior way to level, simply that it was a viable way to level.

    One of the best things FF11 ever did was moving away from party-grinding being mandatory. Sometimes you couldn't get a group and it /sucked/, and some people don't want groups, and don't like feeling forced to.

    Yeah I miss it too. It was great for friend building and of course learning jobs as you mentioned.

    As long as it doesn't become mandatory to level i wouldn't have a problem adding specific zones that require a party and having the mobs give a lot more xp, however 200 mobs to gain a whole level is WAY to fast imo.

    If it becomes mandatory then its a very bad idea, groups are common on launch but no so common 3 years after launch.

    Funny thing about this line of thought is, 'FATE Trains' as they call it has almost become mandatory along with spamming the same dungeons over and over - allowing world grinding actually breaks things up, people say they want options, Yoshi should have never taken this one away.

    Party grinding scales with skill(because of skill chains) and actually required teamwork and a real party set up. It let you play your class, meet new people, and was good at teaching you the basics. Fate grinding doesn't teach you anything, isn't challenging, requires no teamwork, and is just spam aoe.

    Why can't we have traditional experience parties again? They have no downside, and if people don't want to do them they don't have to, but they should be a viable option.

    I have noticed the exp bonus when you chain mobs higher level than you. The exp isn't very significant, but still nice to see you are rewarded for risk.

    I would like to know if anyone has tried exping on significantly higher level mobs as a light party, and what were the results?

    i'd like to try myself when I can get online again.

    I miss it too because it was so flexible. You didn't necessarily need certain roles and if you wanted to duo/trio sometimes that was cool too.

    I am not thrilled with the rigidity of dungeon raiding as source of XP gain.

    More options are better.

    I would love if they added a few zones with hard mobs that are a similar time-xp ratio reward to fates.

    lol FATE trains remind me of the huge leve parties shortly after 1.0 release.
