I haven't read TOS etc. as usual, so I am asking if someone did: is scamming prohibited in this game?

Dunno actually I agree with Beef, I wouldn't have let my kids play this game when they were 12, and I would be right beside them all the time if I did to make sure zone chat was off, and that I saw any tells they got. All the trash talk in gen chat doesn't worry me, but it isn't something I would have wanted my 12 yr old reading. I know they hear stuff at school but come on, some of the things I have seen said in chat are really not for 12 yr old eyes.
ETA: Actually I just looked it up and the game is rated Teen not Mature, which is recommended for 13 and up, so really it isn't that bad she is playing it at all, but I still think constant supervision is best.

it's 100 gil.
and now she knows that when someone offers something seemingly too good to be true, you should stay away. seems like she came out ahead, to be perfectly honest because that is one of the most valuable life lessons a person will ever learn.

Funny thing is, it's probably 12 year olds polluting the shout system!Dunno actually I agree with Beef, I wouldn't have let my kids play this game when they were 12, and I would be right beside them all the time if I did to make sure zone chat was off, and that I saw any tells they got. This is about the principle of what happened, most of you feel you are too intelligent to ever have something such as this happen to you.
So he is just helping to spread awareness, in case other parents have young teenagers that are playing this game.
Report him to a GM. The GMs will uphold deals struck between players.

I don't see the problem here, real life is no different. I sure hope you don't leave her unsupervised away from home too, if she's this trusting of people she doesn't know.
It's a video game, she wasn't smart enough to distrust a stranger online, that says more about your parenting skills than it does about humanity as a whole. Sorry, but the naive get scammed. Only the smart ones learn from it, the terminally naive come here to complain about it.
That's like being surprised that the wallet you lost ended being found with no money in it by the time it's returned to you, or leaving your phone on a friend's table while 3 people you've never met are also there and being shocked when it turns up missing later. If you lack that much common sense then you deserve what you get.

LOL parenting lessons from a troll.
My parenting helped her make the honor roll for two years in a row under my primary placement. FFXIV CE was her end of school year present for her grades. I played M-rated games at her age and turned up just fine.
In fact, FFXIV is the first game that has made us share our achievements in-game together. So if anything, it's helped our relationship.
I never had that as a kid, because my parents didn't "get" video games.
So if playing an M-rated game that so far has the same type of violence and weaponry as did King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. I don't think my parenting is irresponsible
Please don't intend my post to be a ranting about the gil. The amount of gil is the slightest of my concerns. She has close to 5,000 right nowOriginally Posted by LebronJames

Guys.. The scammer was role-playing as thief. While the person being scammed was role-playing as a naive maiden.
Its called immersion.![]()

Damn that was a great deal! Where do I enter this wonderful (and obviously secret) scheme! I wanna win 10x my investment too!
But yeah, people are scumbags. It's a scumbag world. MMOs are slightly less scumbaggy worlds than RL though...
