yes they are and even if by some chance they aren't, they are contributing to the problem.

It's all a cycle, people afk because once they log off they may never get back on, causing more people to afk. If they restart the servers, they will get a rush of people logging on making it fastest finger first to log on.

Also blaming afkers is just pointing blame, if I log on in the morning or early afternoon I will get onto Ragnarok straight away, come EU primetime I will be very lucky to log on, this shows that the problem is not afkers, if it was the problem would be round the clock.

I can't talk for other servers but this is the case with Ragnarok.

I think you're missing the point Delsus.

AFK'ers are still present at prime time. So if there were say, 500 AFK players logged in at that point, and 700 people trying to log in, it becomes 500 people playing, 200 people trying to log in, and we can bring back a global queue.

Add to it that AFK'ers only ever seem to go up, and people actually playing the game is gradually decreasing. Its a marvel that SE is even able to keep the servers alive with their current stance on the idle queue.

to be clear, you are no more entitled to play than the people sitting AFK. if they got in there first before you and just didn't leave that's a sad day for you but they get to play and you don't opposed to you getting to play and they don't.
i think it's just as selfish to blame the afk people as it is to sit afk so you don't lose your spot online. fact is there is a limit resource and the only fair way to handle it is first come first serve.

Sorry but I agree with the OP, I was logged in all weekend because I was tired of paying to play a game I could never get into. Today I crashed and now can't even get the world server list. So flame at me all you want but the true cause of the issue of AFK'ers is not the people going AFK but SE for their poor open beta and release.

Flame away at SE if you are pissed about AFK'ers not the AFK'ers

The world is restricted to 5000 players at one time, if 500 are AFK that means that 10% of the players logged on are not doing anything. If you do not see that as a problem (from a business standpoint of attempting to provide good customer service) then I don't know what else to tell you. So while it is not a major problem. Using your math: 50 worlds x 500 people = 25,000 people logged on are AFK.

That is 25,000 people that are upset they could be playing that are unable to. Which (at $10 a month) is roughly $250,000 (or $3 million a year) in lost revenue if those people get upset enough to leave.

I am currently logged on and waiting for the 1:00 AM unspoiled mining spot to pop (sorry to those who aren't). So this isn't me griping about not being able to log. This is about me explaining why it IS a problem.

I'm on Balmung (Legacy) and it is a problem all day. Guess your world doesn't have as many people attempting to log in. So while I am happy for you, don't assume because your world isn't that way that the other 49 must be in the same situation.

It'll help quite a bit, I'd love to go into detail but I'm afraid you and many others would get lost in the sheer amount of numbers and equations with their amazing College Algebra requirement.
Removing AFK'ers won't solve everything but will help to alleviate it quite a bit. The key idea is to get the numbers balanced and currently there's nothing outside of natural logging out or bugs to keep one side from getting overflowed.
Adding more servers while noble is also a waste of money since there's nothing to dictate that the current volume is the new standard for this games traffic and if it isn't that's a lot of money that could have been placed elsewhere

I have no problem with AFK'ers. It's 100% SE's fault for not implementing an Auto-kick for AFK people before release. It is 100% SE's fault that their servers can't handle the amount of people SE know pre-ordered the game.

When I come home from work and it takes at least an hour of spamming my 0 key to be able to play I don't get angry at the AFK people, I get angry with SE.
If I have to run to the store for 30 minutes, you're damn right I'm not logging out when it takes twice that to log back in.

You do realize, an auto-kick function would only stop the AFKers for like 5 minutes right? All you would have to do to beat it is auto-run in a corner.
