What is the shoe is on the other foot. I bet you wouldn't like it if you wanted to play and you couldn't get in because of the AFKer's. If other people do and can log in and not go AFK so can you. Just because SE is having problems with the servers doesn't make it right for you and others to go AFK.

You're missing my entire point. I CANT GET IN RIGHT NOW. What my point is, I don't think its Viable any longer to blame PLAYERS for being AFK anymore. Square-Enix has turned the afk issue into a joke blaming the servers instead of this issue saying It's not something they are going to focus on until that is done. When players who are paying money now to gain access to this game cannot get on for hours on end FINALLY get in after hours or even DAYS of trying (one of my friends was locked out for nearly 48hrs this weekend to 90k and the Lobby Server) You CANNOT blame them for not logging off because of the Incompetence of Square Enix on this issue.

I wish I was logged in right now, But im not, but it has gotten to this point where I can't blame anyone anymore for going afk because of the login issues when something so simple as a queue system and booting afk's WILL fix it and they choose to ignore it.

It's a holiday in Canada as well therefore all the kids and people that are not shift work like me who has to work today will be on (or trying to). I haven't been able to log on all weekend myself. Hopefully after the maintenance on Wednesday, things will be better.

Typically I attempt for log in for about 30-45 minutes. I'll get the greyed out start button, the North American servers are down, the Japanese servers are down, the server is full. Pretty much every error.

I control copy my password and just log in smash the lobby server until I get in. There's no tricks to it, just dumb luck and persistence. Every day since launch.

Eventually it will let me queue, which normally goes by pretty fast. I'm an American on a Japanese server because I neglected to fill out my transfer request, so my start time on my days off is normally their peak time.

So, for those trying to log in, just keep trying.

This may come as a shock but most people who have a job still have to work today. Bankers and government employees don't play video games pssh. As for the school kids, I don't know many under 20 who are able to be up before 9am when they don't have to.

Seeing as I am working today, I would not be shocked that some people are, though saying "most" I think is not necessarily a given. Yes, no one with a 9 to 5 job plays this game, that's certainly why it's usually much more easy to log in during non-holiday week days between those hours, but of course today is just the one week day for some unknown reason that it's not. You must not know a lot of gamer kids. Many of them probably haven't even gone to sleep yet, and the ones that did sleep, can very much be up early to play their hot new game.

I also have been trying to get in since 8EST. Been cycling through 1017, grey start buttons, login window not loading, and 2002 errors. I am long time FF fan and hope this game succeeds but I am hoping they fix these issues during the upgrade.

Getting a variety of lobby server / unable to update NA worlds errors. Launcher did get far enough once to update the JP server list, where I have an alt to play when NA is full, but No Luck, that World is full, too.
Now I'm getting 1017 errors even before the character selection pops up...
