Everyone being everything means no market at all

    Seriously...

People don't go to the boards when they find they need something for a recipe they want to make, they grab a 4th/5th/6th gathering profession or crafting profession. Which in turn means you don't want to use the market, because why buy stuff off the market to craft stuff that no one is going to buy?

The market is completely stagnant and with the ease of leveling these professions, everyone will have lvl 50 DoH and DoF all jobs well before any expansion happens. Nothing they can really do at this point will heal the wound either, because the only real solution is locking people to 1 each of DoH and DoF. But this is all a part of removing relying on other people from MMO's. Because the second M isn't multiplayer...

It's too bad too, because crafting and gathering is a blast in this game, too bad you have nothing to do with any of it except what you can personally use.

I dunno if i agree. Personally i am to lazy to actually level all the crafting profs cuz imo it's a pain. I prefer doing some active content and if i need something - i buy it.

In the interest of being polite, I'll reword my opening statement to simply say that I think you're completely wrong. Post-20 the crafting classes take a very, very long time to level. Getting just one to 50 is going to take some time; the vast majority of players aren't going to do as you suggest - it's far easier just to buy what you need from the overflowing markets.

I've spent the past two days mostly playing my weaver, leveling and making stuff to sell. Regular stuff isn't going to sell, no. But I've had great success selling HQ stuff, especially that which I've had materia on hand to enhance.

For once, leveling them takes time and not everyone is going to level everything.

Dunno how the market will develop, but you can easily make a million or more a day right now .

Maybe it will be more interesting for housing in the future!

    i strongly disagree
we might have everything, doesnt always mean we willing to craft everything

I myself, when too lazy to craft some lower level mat, i go to the market board to find it

but in the end months or years in the future people will get them to lvl 50. In the end it the market would be healthier if people could only max out 1 or 2 crafts.
The only way I see them solving this is by adding craft specializations and only letting you chose 1 or 2.

In the long run, everyone with everything @ 50 means no market. Beginning of the game may be fine, but it will all fall apart eventually. On legacy servers, there is barely a market for anything as there are already tons of people that can gather and craft for themselves.

Only the absolutely lazy will be subject to buying much of anything on the market. In hindsight, they probably should have left it very time consuming to level crafts and gathers like it was at the beginning of 1.0. Simplify the recipes yea, but not boost the exp so greatly

At least, I am beyond the point of buying anything from anyone else - unless I am feeling lazy or just in a hurry.

It gets harder once you cannot buy mats from a vendor. As a level 19 Weaver, I have to farm the level 25 Diremites near Fallgourd Float for Diremite web. It takes 2 web to make one spool of diremite cloth and I believe 2 pieces of cloth to make one hempen dirmite cloth (or something like that). Now consider that only 1 in 5 of these creatures or less drops this and it will take a long time to level, unless you are rich in game or if you can gather it via botany (which I don't know yet).

Me too. My high quality sales have done quite well and fetched a good price with little competition.
