I bought and played 1.0 with high hopes and it was soo bad I stopped playing within 2 weeks. I played FFXI for many years, so I was really disappointed but with FFXIV ARR it is no comparison to 1.0 as far as quality of game play, function, and experience.

So all this login issues is nothing compared to 1.0 so everyone stop bitching and give these guys a break.

If this game sucked nobody would care about the server issues. Their software people should all get raises. Their net-code and hardware people should get offered the chance to work 16 hour days indefinitely or receive a pink slip immediately.

Most games undercut their expectations by a bit and have busy servers for a bit but... Square Enix must have REALLY underestimated it. Lots of games suspend online sales to cover the issue but most of the time people can still play. This game is like an experienced catering service bringing a cake that feeds 10 people to a party of 100. Also, most companies when the F something up the first time go overboard to cover their clients when they make their second business attempt. I`m not seeing that yet... I`m just seeing a new game with lots of login issues. They should have expected this and they should have planned more for this. After all, this game is an apology for the first one in my opinion.

Anyways, besides that I do agree with your letter. Once you get into the game, it`s a lot of fun. But I can`t apologize to them yet.

I notice that the really angry people all have very low level characters, or no characters at all. The ones claiming that SE isn't trying and that they've wasted their money. Seems like those of us who've managed to play the game have a little more appreciation for the content improvements.

What do you want them to do? Rent untested servers so that players' data is subject to greater instability? Hire untrained temps just so our service queues can be shorter? Call White Knight all you want - at least when these fools are gone the rest of us can play in peace.

I agree with the OP. But, I'm still irritated about the errors in shipping. If stores were going to have it on release day, why didn't preorder customers have it by then as well - why withhold the shipping date of the box? I'm looking at an entire week of being envious of people getting 1017 because I can't even do that.

This has already been stated before but its a Canadian company that's hosting the NA/EU servers and promised big things and under delivered what they promised so I'm sure SE is putting some foots in rears.

Trust me I have been getting error 1017 all weekend long and unable to actually play. All my friends are on Leviathan while I am on an NA legacy server unable to create a character on Leviathan since it now stays locked 24/7.

It's not the people who are complaining they have to worry about. Most of us will suffer through all the BS. It's the thousands upon thousands who could have cared less about this game but heard it was coming out and thought they would give it a whim. Those are the people SE needed to stay around and play, and those are the first people who will not think twice about never trying the game again. That doesn't just effect SE, that effects EVERYONE because that is less people who are willing to maybe pay for content down the road. Less people paying for content means less content, it's pretty simple.

They better pay the naysayers some mind.-- unless you plan to pay for all the people who WILL leave because of this.
