The amount of narcissism that I have seen in this thread is appalling.

I understand, these login issues stem from SE and their miscalculation of the amount of people wanting to play their game. As others have stated, this is unacceptable for paying customers. Thankfully, SE will be fixing these issues soon.

However, this does not excuse the behavior of players going AFK 24/7 in order to preserve their spot on their respective server. The attempts to justify this behavior that I have seen thus far have essentially boiled down to, "screw you guys, I wanna play when I wanna play." While I understand the frustration of not being able to play sometimes, choosing this course of action is only making things worse. It's simple - by going AFK for an extended period of time, you are taking a server spot away from someone who would actually be actively playing. No matter which way you slice it, staying logged when you are not playing is basic selfishness, plain and simple.

Well, I'm happy that you are somehow able to justify your actions and not feel bad about it, because I sure wouldn't.

I truly hope this community improves over the next few months. One of the main draws to FFXI was the great community. While there were obviously some bad apples, for the most part, people were willing to help each other out and treated everyone with respect. So far, I have not witnessed much of that in FFXIV.
