I was pondering the same thing. The whole 7 days free thing doesn't float well with me. That's just compensating for lost time, but does not facilitate the customer to stay a customer. For example, I sell stuff as a side job on ebay. When I screw up an order (say, I packed the wrong item), I tell the customer to keep the item, and I'll ship their correct item asap. I don't tell them to send the wrong item back to me. Right now, the 7 extra days seem just like that, telling the customer to send the item back to me, while I ship them the correct item.
Anyway, as for the sub fee, for me at least, I makes me feel that I should be playing XIV every single chance I get, since I am paying for it. But I can't since I have other obligations. Maybe that's just me. Also, I feel like you're essentially "renting" the game since at the end, you don't keep any of it once they call it quits and shut everything down.

I got trapped that way on WoW.. it was like.. OMG I'm paying money for this.. MUST PLAY ALL HOURS! Thankfully after.. a time long enough that I don't care to admit to it.. I think I have broken the cycle! But yeah, the P2P was a reason I wasn't going to get the game, however other people were playing it, and it's not that big a chunk of change.. so.. here I am!

Back to the compensation. I think one week is kind of crappy to offer. "Hey we're just refunding the time you couldn't play. We're not all that concerned about the frustrations that it has caused, we just want to give you what you've paid for! We don't care to go above and beyond that and show you what you mean to us!" We shall see... we shall see..

One week is indeed a bit ridiculous, but it won't stop me from subbing. The game is great and so far much worth the few mins I can get on. It sucks that it take forever to log in. :/
People would be a lot more inclined and patient if they could fix their login queue.

Yeah I'm not all that ragey anymore. I had my minor rants. They finally said they were working on it. I'm holding on until I see what happens... hopefully by Wed?

Not so much problems getting in (I can get on the JP servers just fine it seems), it's just that this game doesn't seem much different than WoW, EQ, or even some newer F2P MMOs. Delivery and collection quests still? Really?

I'll keep playing my free 30 days, but I'm guessing not much is going to change and I'll have my RPG fix filled by then.

well first of all F2P is where games go to die, and as for the problems, this is not the first time in the world of mmo games even WoW had the exact same problem on every expansion pack, im really having high hopes for this game i just hope they add some real end game content not just log in do raid log off kinda stuff.

and of course i hate the 7 free days but guess SE gotta pay their staff :x

I will be paying...sucks with all the log in issues but I still love the game and enjoy all the time I have spent so far and look forward to more in the future.
