I believe each class gets their own points. I've leveled BLM and gotten attribute points, when I swap to ACN I have no attribute points because I've already spent them. I checked all my current classes and noticed that they all have their own attribute points. So if you have 1 point with BLM, when you swap classes and spend points, when you go back to BLM the attribute point should still be there.

The problem is SCH and SMN share a base class but use a different main stat. You can either dump all your points into one and pay a huge fee every time you want to swap or split the difference. Neither is really that attractive
