1.0 CE owners did not receive your 2.0 bonus items BECAUSE you are Legacy, say Square

Like many I have seen on this forum, I was a 1.0 Collector's edition owner still waiting on my 2.0 CE bonus items and whose mog station account showed as a Legacy member only with an offer to upgrade. After numerous support tickets, and chat attempts, I finally got the following email response today:

Dear Customer,

Regarding your request for account support. Please find your answer below.

Yes, if you purchased the original FINAL FANTASY XIV Collector's Edition, you will receive all of the FFXIV: A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition in-game bonus items free of charge.
* Please note that you will not receive the box, disc, and other physical bonuses.
* Please note Legacy members do not receive Collector's Edition bonuses.

That's right. If you were a paying Legacy member of 1.0 who bought the Collector's Edition and everything, you do not get anything from 2.0. If you had never paid for the subscription to support the game back in those days, then you would be getting all of the bonus items today. Does this not seem a little backwards to anyone else? Can any devs clarify on the reasoning behind this?

If you read that thing it clearly says 1.0 CE owners get ARR CE items.
Not all Legacy are CE owners though.

As a Legacy holder who had 1.0 CE, I can confirm I got ARR CE items.

Seems your problem is you're not recognized as a CE owner.
Do you still have your 1.0 CE box?

Note: If you registered with a "buddy pass" that was included with the CE, that's not a CE in itself.

i am a legacy member who bought the collectors edition. i got bonus items.
it should say "legacy member who did not purchase the collectors edition will not get the bonuses"

that means that just because you are a legacy member you do not get the CE bonuses because you didnt buy the 1.0 CE.

If you are a legacy member, and you bought the 1.0 CE you get the CE items
if you just bought the 1.0 CE you will get the CE items

Not all legacy players bought 1.0 CE.

Then they still didn't attempt to resolve my problem. I am both Legacy and a 1.0 CE owner and I have not received anything, like most people. I simply took this response to mean that we would not and it made sense to me. My wife is a 1.0 CE owner but not Legacy and got her items.

Exactly. Its odd that they would even bother to put that. If they meant it as "Just because you are Legacy, does not mean you get the 2.0 items if you didn't own 1.0 CE". My original support ticket to them clearly states that I am a 1.0 CE owner. I don't think I even mentioned that I was Legacy originally.

I purchased the $49.99 2.0 Collector's edition and received the pre-order bonus items but not the CE items. So I sent in an email requesting it fixed. Here's the reply

Dear Customer,

Regarding your request for account support. Please find your answer below.

If you played FFXIV version 1.0, you cannot use a registration code attached to a Windows version FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition package. Instead, you simply need to purchase the Collector's Edition digital upgrade.

No where on the website did it say this. So I can either create a new service account to get the items or pay another $19.99 to upgrade. THATS NOT THE BEST PART. For giggles, I created a new service account and entered in the CE code into mog station on the new account. Invalid Code.....hmmm. Bravo SE bravo.

Some people had the same problem with the CE items as they did with the legacy chocobo, usually just logging out and back in fixes it, if not I would recommend posting about this problem in this forums somewhere here is fine but it would probably be better in like a bugs section or something? Cause when you contact SE and get a rep. you will usually most of the time get a minimum wage working that just doesn't care and has no motivation to actually help you. Where as if you get a Dev. response there answers will more than likely tell you what is wrong, and if they can't help you they will more than likely actually take your name down and do something about it.

So you bought two boxed CE's, or did you register using the Buddy Pass?
