Unable to update the group NA/EU Character List but no maintenance is on

I get the "Unable to update the group NA/EU Character List" but at the moment there is no maintenance going on.
The servers are up as is shown by site such as ARRstatus.com yet my client acts as if all the servers are down or undergoing maintenance.
Is it normal???

[NA] Several Worlds Technical Difficulties (Aug. 31)

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties wherein players are being disconnected from instances on the North American and European data center Worlds. As a result, customers who were disconnected from said content are unable to log in.

The issue is being addressed, and new updates will follow as additional information becomes available.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

My party wiped, mainly because it was my first time fighting titan and didnt know what to expect, right after i got the 9000 error. I felt bad cus it looked like i ditched them probably

I highly doubt that Square Enix will read this, but they could easily solve the "over crowding issue by booting characters that are just sitting for hours on end in the capital cities spamming to buy gil from their crappy site. I get idle for maybe a half hr tops.. but most of those toons are there when i log in, and in the exact same spot if i return to town hours later

The hilarious thing is that the server is somehow full directly after the login servers go down for hours and a bunch of people get kicked and can't log back in.

That might count for some, but I have a friend who was unable to queue for Duty Finder ("You cannot queue at this time, try again later" type error). He then went to relog to solve the issue and that was about 2 1/2 hours ago. He was able to num0 spam for about 5 minutes and has not been able to see the server list since. Yet I'm happily grinding away at my gatherings

Past 30 minutes I've been trying to log in, I kept getting cannot load JP lists. (BTW, why the f' in the world would I give a crap about JP list if I don't have any JP characters. Should skip that search to off load your servers and not make me wait around for a few seconds every time I try to log on.)

Finally got on the Queue. Then when I was down to #14, I get kicked and the game closes.

I log back on, now I can pull up JP list, but not NA/EU list.

Got 9000 along with two of my buddies. We can't even click on the start button after we log in. I checked the Worlds and are world is "ONLINE". What is going on.

Problem is, I was not in an instance, nor were a majority of my RL friends. Just crafting/zoning/chatting and poof 90k'd, then no servers ...

This shit is getting ridiculous. If they haven't gotten this bull squared away come the end of the trial period, I know of at least 25 people who will not be resubscribing. Fix it S/E.
