Lol.
Keep dreaming.
It'll always be luck based. Always.
None of you even sound like people who should be crafting in the first place. Just stick to combat classes and let real men do the crafting for you.

Lots of people don't like the crafting system. If we want to explore and talk about other options and suggestions we are more then free to. That's what these forums are for. If your here to troll only and have nothing constructive to say GTFO.

Personal attack aside I can agree that they will never let the randomness go, it wouldn't be an Eastern MMORPG without constant heartbreaking failure.
However, it's the illusion of influence that bothers me the most. I can spam standard and succeed or try my hardest, play it safe, and still fail. I can coddle my craft until it gets over 200 quality with no reward for all that risk.
Alongside that is the fact that the mini-game isn't engaging or even a challenge.
Take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT3hnZ3ZtOE
Not only is that more fun, engaging, and challenging, it also is shorter than FFXIV's crafting. And you can also make it even quicker by just being better at it and the quicker you do it the more bonuses you got, win/win. (Not to mention the mini-game steps were based on actual ingredients used)
So, my point is make an actual mini-game or just give us the normal bar and wait for the craft to be done system. All I do is click standard, alt-tab, repeat, be great if I could stay alt-tabbed for the 3 minutes while it decided if I was going to fail or succeed.
Haven't played in a while, logged on today, confirming that crafting is still boring and overly tedious.
