Other classes shouldn't be equal. You can DD without being in the tank's AoE range. If other classes are equal, you're still overpowered. Archers have no business keeping up in damage with marauders and lancers.
I'm a conjurer, so it's not like I'm biased. I know how horrible FFXI's year 1-5 were. Completely run by rangers and black mages for the very reasons we're repeating all over again.
Archers only bring DPS to the table where as Lancers and Marauders bring other things to the table Archers can not.
Peregrine, we must have a talk in vent. Their are flaws to your argument that you are not considering. Hit me up next time you're on.
2005 dmg from a doomspike II, buffed in a BR chain
this was at rank 43 up on a hog in coearthas (cant rememeber rank of the hog)
oh noes nerf lancers now too

So far I have only played archer in a leve situation. Fully buffed multi shot will take at least 50% of the mobs (+10-12 ranks above me) hp then the trifucate or whatever it is will finish it. Then I have 3k tp and do barrage and puncture II on the mob (25%-50% hp left) that the 4-5 melles haven't kill yet to finish it off. Now leve mobs are pretty piss weak I am not sure how archer is outside of those.
However, I main THM and I would say THM probably needs to get nerfed just as much if not more than archer.

I'm not saying that classes don't need a lot of balancing, and I am not even disagreeing that classes like THM and ARC are chief among them.
What makes this entire thread fail has been stated throughout - THEY AREN'T GOING TO TAKE THE TIME TO NERF A CLASS WHEN THEY ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF REDESIGNING BOTH THE JOBS THEMSELVES AND THE VERY SYSTEMS THEY ARE BASED ON.
With that in mind, continuing this 'debate' is a masturbatory exercise.
Couldn't have said it better myself xD
Seriously, it's common knowledge that the ENTIRE class and battle system is being reworked. Peregrine be trollin'.
Funny thing about that group he posted for the Great Buffalo, with the gladiator, pugilist, archer, lancer, marauder, conjuror, and thaumaturge... That's usually the group we have when we fight him, and we have no problems....
Don't see why you would need more archers, my buffed Twisting vice does about as much as an archer's buffed Bloodletter to the horns, and the real damage to the Buffalo is DoT's and BR's... not archer and multishot...
Think peregrine needs to play archer to 50, and do some nm's as an archer, before making all these grand announcements, and he needs to deflate that ego a bit, the board is not big enough for that particular hot air balloon.

It's basically what I said 26 pages ago... lol

On nm's I stand beside the melee's in harms way
don't die much either good old defender, rampart, pro2, shield and cure 3 woot woot
arc is fine and melee have def to handle aoe also mages buff
the system work prergrine ur the broke one if you can't just manage being square deep in a fight
conj is meant to be in the tick of things hence circular aoe as opposed to thaum having a conal frontal aoe
conj is amazing and I hope it gets better.
