Played about 10 dungeon instances with DF. Only ran into 1 really bad tank, and 1 mediocre tank. The rest were doing their job and a few were exceptional at it.
I'm assuming the baddies were beginner mmo players who haven't got in touch with their role yet.

I'm personally reserving player bashing for later game instances because if you make it to late game and are still screwing up, you need to be taught a lesson. =P

Brayflox is the example? I understand the frustration. I've had some examples of 'bad' tanks too. However most of them really did their best and after some well intentioned advise performed way better!

Besides the tank is not the only one that contributes to the succes of killing the final dragon boss. The healer and the damage dealers decide where the dragon spits the green goo. They decide how much space the tank has in moving the dragon. Healers and damage dealers can make it easy or hard for the tank.

Anyway just be friendly to others, even if you think they tank poorly. They want to succeed as much as you do!

    Ok Rule of thumb

If tank dies its the healers fault
    Healer dies Tanks fault
Dps dies well its there own damn fault...

As a dps you should learn to manage your agro.... Fail dps are the ones that get mad if they pull off a tank because they did something stupid...

You die because you pulled off your tank you deserve to die. l2p

I always offer tips and advice, helping your party aids you. Brayflax tends to really seperate the good tanks from the ones still learning. There will be dungeons like this for healers and dps down the line. Insults never help anything and only mar the experience for the whole group. If you don't know how to do what they're doing, just keep them to yourself, if you know how to make their life easier, feel free to teach.

Im a tank and i received compliments that my tanking was good.

So tanking in FFXIV is hard, because provoke has 40 sec cd and its your only ability (so far thats all i got, dunno later on) to pull aggro off someone and the other abilities they build aggro (like flash), but dont pull aggro, so if u are a dps and you keep hammering your target without the tank building aggro on it, chances are the target will stick on you like glue.

What should you do then? something that is really easy but people have forgetten about it. Assist your damn tank, because if he has half a brain, he will be at least building aggro on his target.

But people are stupid right? some are new to this mmo thing and dont know that. So, i mark the targets before pulling them, its fast, and really simple, your dps will follow those numbers, and when they do i just use flash to build aggro on the other mobs just so they dont go for the healer and also in case we have aoers.

Almost agree with that. On the final boss of Bray, our tank took every single one of those big attacks that you can dodge, and just ran me out of mp getting his HP back up, over and over and over and over. I understand the fight is a bit easier on SCH, but I'm a WHM. On the 3rd time he finally started to dodge them... sometimes, and it left me with enough HP to heal through till the end. So while I usually agree with Tank/Healer, sometimes, the tank needs to just dodge out of some of those big attacks. The pool isn't unlimited!

I think some people could very much benefit from actually reading the damn play guide.
I mostly run with my LS mates but I did a few PUG's, Brayflox in particular sucked. I was lagging out the first 10min or so but otherwise fine after that, but the SMN decided to cry a river that I wasn't marking the mobs. I fail to see why they even added it, I've never had to mark mobs in a MMO? I gotta draw a map for you to kill trash mobs now? So I decided to mark each pull from there on out and no one followed the kill order even once... just attack whatever they felt like fighting (like adds the BLM had sleeping).

I've run almost all the higher level dungeon with my LS mates and have never needed to mark mobs, intelligent players know to assist the tank and I'm fairly certain hitting F10 to target the focus mob is easier than stopping and drawing it out in crayon on every pull what we need to do.

trouble with brayflox longstop really? I've done every dungeon up to Qarn on my Mar/War and really tanking has been fairly simple overall. Keeping hate? not a problem as long as DPS are focusing on the target you're keeping hate built on, and you have a few AoE hates out to prevent healers from having adds chase them. It's even easier if you can get some sleeps on adds.

Now I did the Duty Finder 10, 15, 20 & 25's on my Archer... and had some seriously negligent players in there! The one where you have to capture the turtle... had to tell the healer to just let the tank die so we could finish it he wouldn't read chat log at all.

I did do Toto-Rak on my archer when a group was just looking for 1 DPS (go figure right?) had a great tank for that we pulled two groups the whole way through and Mar, Arc, Arc just AoE'd them all down quickly.

anyone else notice the people who criticize tanks and healers are button mashing DPS players? must be hard to fight something that's hitting another party member...
