I miss that all my gear that I worked so hard for in 1.23 is now complete trash.

I miss:
-The overall visual direction
The old 1.0 lacked a lot in variety, but what was there was maliciously and classically designed. Everything felt raw and natural. There was an air of noble romanticism to the designs and structures. In comparison, ARR feels a bit cramped and flashy. Much of this new gear has a tendency to look tacky. We can't choose our belts now. The animations where so much nicer. More reserved colors.
And most importantly, Coerthas is an ugly frozen wasteland now and has lost all of its atmospheric grandeur.
-The fidelity.
Hopefully we'll get more options by the time DX11 rolls around.
-The freedom.
Everything is tied to an event or quest. There's not a lot of room to go off and do your own thing. Though in a way, more direction has helped give your actions more purpose. I just think they went too far in the other direction.
-The combat system
I feel some good ideas where scrapped for this current -okay- system. No more Elemental attacks? Traditional spell tiers being replaced with numeric? Feh.
-Being able to buy single items from stacks.
It's cumbersome, it's inconvenient, I want it back to normal.
There are more but I won't bore you with the super minor stuff. But it does add up for me.
Still, I'm enjoying this game for what it is.

ARR would be great if they didn't walk the beaten path almost everyone is tired of. New MMOs haven't been failing because they lacked content, it's the fact the content there is nothing new. Even the main story was kind of the "this is for exp and money only" I mean "go deliver tea" right after taking out a god, for example? That's straight out of the handbook of MMO design today.
The combat is basically the same start to finish, only differences depends on the bosses encountered, i.e Doomwall or Ultima Weapon. The economy, even though it's still new is pretty bad, even worse than 1.x because people undercutting here is a lot worse than 1.0 when people had gil fountains - people are ruining the market on every single item possible simply by selling say an Electrum ring for 300 gil a pop when ingots are still 2-3k a pop. If you like the tried and true style of MMOs, you'll love ARR, if you liked 1.x's non traditional style and hoped for simple improvements, you may or may not like ARR.
That can be explained with separation of story and gameplay elements.

Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.

It's funny that you have the inb4 segments in your posts because it implies that you've stated your opinion on this before and people have called you out on it. Which is completely understandable because if you've done so previously and in this exact same way, I'm not surprised that you got a little backlash.1.23 is the better game in every way shape and form.
ARR is a game for 12 year olds.
It's utterly impossible to enjoy. I love how the argument was "WAIT FOR END GAME LOL YOU HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED IT YET AND YOU'RE JUDGING IT"
Yeah, well now I have played it AND IT'S STILL GARBAGE.
COMBAT IS STILL 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 3 1 1 1 1 1 2 3 1 1 1 1 1 2 3 1 1 1 1 1 2 3
GAME IS TRASH IF YOU LIKE IT YOU'RE TOO CASUAL. 1.23 was a game for real players and that's why real players thrived on it and so many quit because they couldn't handle the journey to end game.
inb4 I'm a troll because I liked the superior game.
inb4 blocked for differing opinion
There's nothing wrong with enjoying 1.23 more than you do ARR, but the way you express your opinion is wrong.

That's just.. just...
The separation of gameplay and story is something writers are supposed to go to lengths to prevent us noticing - one sign of a truly great game designer is the ability to marry the two with as little whiplash as possible. 'Separation of story and gameplay mechanics' is not a reason for things to not make sense, it's what happens when they can't make sense.
There's unavoidable separation - IE: difficulty integrating our companions into cutscenes as they were in v1.0, for technical reasons perhaps.. and then there's setting up a narratively justified party fight, then turning around and saying you were alone. That's not unavoidable segregation of gameplay and story, that's taking a dead haddock, writing IT'S NOT REAL on the side, and then beating the player about the head with it.

So much this...I was so severely disappointed after I checked out Coerthas. All of the atmosphere gone, replaced with mostly bland white landscapes. Only good thing about it is the music (if it plays...). Just my opinion though.
It's close to being a game breaking thing to me. What I loved about 1.0 was all the hours I walked or just sat / stood in areas like Coerthas, being totally sucked in by the world. I've yet to encounter anything of that quality in 2.0

This. Coerthas was my favorite area in the game. There were absolutely beautiful places in the region that are now all gone, and what little is left of Coerthas is now just a frozen wasteland, because, of course, it wasn't enough with just reducing the area to 1/5 of it's size or less, they had to mess it up as well.So much this...I was so severely disappointed after I checked out Coerthas. /sign
Why was it done that way? So you wouldn't put up that much stuff at once on the market? I don't understand :S
I'd also like to repair things for others again / get it repaired from them. If it still works, someone please tell me how. Always running to an NPC just because you don't have the Crafter leveled that high is a little stressing.
Have to agree on this ._.I absolutely loathe what they've done with the main story now. In 1.xx we didn't have a million main scenario quests, so every time you got one every so many levels, it actually felt important. Now it feels like a horribly monotonous chore to keep up with the 600 fetch quests between every quest that actually has interesting information / cutscenes. I've loved this game since I started in 1.0, but if I were a critic, I'd rip it a new one for having virtually all of the game's content gated behind the arduous story.
I made this a few days ago so I've finished a lot since, but it's insanity that there are 76 main scenario quests between level 1-24.
I just finished Toto-Rak for this and I am already a bit annoyed. Mostly because of those strange tasks and that I am hanging around in the Black Shroud the most of the time. (Note: I sighed in relief when we could go to Thanalan and La Noscea in beta.)
Main Story felt a bit more important and somehow challenging before. Now it more feels like another way to gain some decent Exp while especially leves don't really anymore.
Edit: While I couldn't wait for the next Story quest to start in 1.0, now I only want to be done with it as fast as possible. Or at least get into the lvl 40+ story, in hope for a little more exciting stuff ._.'

Have you tried rerolling? Seems like first world problem as Legacy players.I completely agree with OP. I miss the old...everything. New music isn't appealing, UI is too cluttered, areas are an annoyance to navigate, battle is boring, quests are boring, CSs are boring, minions are boring, mounts are boring, ACN/SMN/SCH pets are boring, FATE is boring.
When i see these 2~3 min CSs with all NPCs and you standing there only talking and with skip option locked i just feel like quitting it. I was hoping this feeling would change at retail version, but still the only nice aspect i saw so far was the companion chocobo, which is not even close to be enough.
