There is no practical difference between the NA and EU servers, they're in exactly the same place in Canada, the ONLY difference it the 'NA' or 'EU' tag which is SE's way of trying to help folks play with others in their own time zone.

Also, regional population is utterly irrelevant, it's the numbers of GAMERS and SE's experience with FFXI and their other games will give them an idea of the sorts of relative numbers there will be in each region.

And NO, all 6 EU servers have NOT had creation locks since day 1, stop lying. You also lie about lack of info, this was posted TWO DAYS AGO, clearly explaining what happened. why, and what's being done:

    Happy refund hunting.

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong. First of all, I made the mistake in an MMO once to play in NA servers instead of US. Never again. All the guilds had raids when I couldnt attend, server events were late at night and I never met anyone from my country, because they would join the EU servers instead of NA.
This all is still beside the point that I want to play with my friends from rl and they play on a particular EU server. When I bought this game it clearly says "Play with your friends"on theb akc of it in the description so this is what I paid for.
Whether the character creating restrictions have been there 24/7 since 1 day after launch, I, of course, cannot say. What I can say, however, is that I tried to make a new character few times a day ever single day since I joined the game. Ever SINGLE time the EU servers were colored gray, and that means unavailable.
Yes, there is lack of info. Simply stating that servers are full and they are busy fixing it is hardly helpful. You hardly read my post at all to say such a thing. I clearly stated in what way the info was lacking. What is helpful would be a comment from SE like:
"Servers will be back on open status on day X hour Y. character transfers will be given to all players on day Z. All players get $$ of free extra gametime to refund their patience."

Refund will not be a problem. In the Netherlands we have very good customer service and I bought my game from a well known online store, where I can even return any product if I want to within 14 days. Maybe SE could learn something about how customers dont have to HUNT for their rights, but they are actually guaranteed and provided.
