I have seen this aswell.. I have failed Brayflox 3 times now due to bad tanks.. No marks No aggro and when they have aggro they are so squishy due to not running previous dungeons. All of these tanks have had vender lvl 25 gear O.o; . Also them having horrible reaction time on the final boss. The frontal attack takes them down to 200 hp when they were full than I waste most my mp trying to catch back up.

On the topic of DD being anoying.. yes some dps thinkt hey can pull but I ask them not to and if they do it I no longer heal them. The tank needs that first aggro or hes gonna be running around like chicken with his head cut off..

I'm thinking of leveling a Paladin after I max my Summoner, we really need more tanks around.

Sometimes the issue isn't even that they suck, but that they're jerks. Got paired up with a warrior tank last night who played fine, marks and all. But I guess they got some gear they wanted and left 3/4's of the way through. We ended up having to disband the group. This was after being in queue for over an hour.

There aren't enough tanks for that type of behavior, as far as I'm concerned.

I really enjoy tanking and I'm super passionate about it. Today I learned a lot about Sac-pulling (pulling the mobs away so your party can sneak past and you die) and also a bit about positioning. Positioning means a lot but sometimes it's like you're trying to parallel park a car by pulling it with a rope. It takes practice.

People need to stop bashing on other people. This game is ridiculously easy compared to 1.0 and to XI. SE seriously dumbed it down to cater to a larger audience. That is fine and all but people need to stop getting angry, calling names, cursing others and talking crap just because someone messes up. My biggest fear was the WoW community attitude hitting Final Fantasy and ruining the community as it used to be and so far, I've been right. This is NOT WoW, this is NOT EQ...this is Final Fantasy XIV. I don't want a game that is face rolling on the keyboard and you can tank or dps just fine. I want a game where it's challenging, different and people actually die and try again without ripping another person's head off. It's a game, for fun....anyone remember fun?

Try a new strategy: Tell them what they are doing wrong and then tell them what to change to make it right. More constructive, you are not viewed as a prick and you actually were kind to someone else who could potentially become a friend/ls member some day.

What is the benefit of this "sac-pulling"? I am genuinely interested. I tried coming up with scenarios where it would be preferable to simply killing the mobs but came up with nothing. Maybe you could enlighten me?

Skipping dangerous mobs. You can have someone pull the group and the rest of the group run by to a safe spot so when they reset they don't aggro and the party gets passed them.

Another practical application used in other games is that you only want one of the mobs in a group (Say a named mob) you can have someone else pull the named mob off the sac puller and the sac puller will get rid of the rest of them and the party won't have to deal with them by basically resetting them on death. The sac puller then dies in a reachable spot. Raise also teleports the dead player in ARR.

Those are two things I can think of off the top of my head. Might not work in ARR but just what it is used for in other games.

I mean I'm no stranger to skipping trash mobs, most MMOs with endgame raids do just about anything to skip trash and get to the bosses faster. I just think it's a bit silly to try to circumvent content like that, and it might actually make things more complicated than just killing the trash. I was gonna give an example but post too long. :P

This is just a quick little self-promotion for something I put on the Lodestone, but for people who are new to ARR or dungeons in general and don't want to screw over the tank, I recommend you check it out: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...53/blog/48278/

Sometimes the tank is the weak link of the group, but sometimes it's just because people don't realize the limitations the tank has.

What a ridiculous thread topic. Before I start though, I'm not saying there's not tanks out there that are absolutely awful. This is universally true. However, the same goes for healers and dps. DPS that say the tank sucks because he can't hold hate because they're all attacking the mobs he isn't. That's not a bad tank, that's retarded dps. Claiming that it's the tank's fault for not marking enemies is slightly fairer but ultimately a matter of debate as to whether it should even be necessary and whether it's even the tank's job to do so. A marker above the enemy is only slightly more obvious than watching the tank attack a specific enemy.
