If it's a summoner pulling aggro with their tank pet, take a moment to think of a couple of things. They have a very quick casting heal that will keep that pet alive effortlessly over time. That's more damage that you aren't taking, that your healer doesn't have to heal. So if it's a tank pet taking damage, whatever, right? It's just less work for everyone involved. Getting mad at a summoner for taking some strain off you is not where you should be directing your mads.

Basically, later on you should get used to keeping aggro on groups of mobs. Most classes have aoes that they will actively use to make the dungeon go faster. You need to learn to keep aggro on multiple mobs to make everything quicker etc.

Well, you could either just leave the instance and que up again...or try to explain to them what to do >.< Whenever things get really bad and after explaining and trying several times..if it doesn't work I just apologize and leave. Really not much else you can do >_<

It's not giving the tank a break when they ruin mechanics and don't heal their pet so the aggro'd mob bounces between the SMN and healer.

They shouldn't be using a tank pet unless asked, period. Everything takes long enough to die and they should be using damage cause god know those DoTs aren't helping.

And before you ask, no I don't play a SMN in instances, I heal as a SCH since the queues are insane, but I have a front row seat to the insanity.

I first thought carby tanking a few mobs for me would really help, but in reality it's just annoying. It's ok for the first few dungeons but after that when you really need to be on the ball, if you have a carby going around stealing hate you really need to pay even more attention making the tanks job harder than it already is. Also to the OP (and this has been said a lot) - You complain about a lack of tanks and then actively insult tanks by saying they suck at their job?

No wonder nobody wants to tank for you. Also judging by the amount of bad DD's in the duty finder, and by that I mean DD's who pull for you and decide they can solo a dungeon, the tank probably had a hard time. There will be bad tanks out there but if you're going to complain about the small number of tanks and then insult them, maybe you should try tanking yourself and take some of the responsibility eh?

I don't mind them doing that if that is the case but every time i've seen them do it i have had aggro under control.

The moral of the story is this, and I've seen it a lot, THIS GAME CALLS YOU OUT HARDCORE IF YOU ARE BAD. I am leveling summoner and I can't even count anymore the times I've had to heal because the healer ran out of MP by spamming Cure 2 when Cure would suffice or had to tell the tank to move Aiatar out of the poinson. Late game there is very little way to escape blame because if you are bad it shows and shows hard.

I have to admit it was a tough learning curve to begin with to learn how to tank properly. Now that ive gotten a lot better at it i have to say its not hard. Just give people time to hit their stride. the only problems ive run into during dungeons is an archer pulling aggro by refusing to attack anything i did and a THM spamming AOE attacks right off the bat before i even start flashing and shield lobbing/provoking enemies. X) Some people just lack common sense

Tanking does require a little bit more focus than DPS... if its a tanks first time in a dungeon, give em a break til they learn the mechanics of the instance. After the first try, really is no excuses...

Thank you guys for posting this. I always used the shapes in the bottom left corner to see if I was keeping aggro on mobs.

Try playing a BLM sometime... Tanks have a hell of a time getting agro back. I have had maybe 1 tank hold agro and keep it from me.
