Sure they do. There's plenty games out there that have Japanese/asian servers or are operated officially in Japan on the same servers (EVE is an example for instance). And moderators/Devs don't wait to have an official Japanese translation before they post on the forums.
This is a Japanese game, plain and simple. America/Europe can't always be the center of the world. Better learn to cope with that idea. We should be happy already that we get updates/patches at the same time, which is true for a very small number of games operated from Asia.
This is good news, SE is going out of their way to make sure people are compensated for the time they have not been able to play. It shows they care about their customers which is good. I hope people that are learning they are getting extra game time for free and quit complaining that SE is using up their free time now.
I think login issues are getting better, too. Last night was the first in a few days where I was actually able to log, and it only took about fifteen minutes of spamming the login button to do it. I even accidentally cancelled out of the queue once, and was able to get right back in (I almost throat-punched myself for doing that, though). The game play once I got in seemed to be getting a bit more fluid, as well. Crowded fates were definitely handling the action better.Login issues are getting better. I am almost positive there were more people online last night than I have ever seen in the game. All the cities/outposts were PACKED. This game is fantastic. The only issue was not being able to play it. Glad to see it being remedied so quickly. Well done Yoshi!
People like you make me sick! Even when they acknowledge the problem, compensate us adequately you play the race card? They are not treating any player, no matter where they're from any different. Money is money. Business is business and we're all customers. You know, the kind any business worth their salt wants to keep.
Cut down on the lemons... you won't be so sour-faced.

The game is wonderful, just getting on to play is the issue I have the most problem with.
Do us a favor and go play instead of complaining some more.

Am I the only one who does not want free time as compensation? If I could, I would pay a subscription tomorrow. It would filter out lots of the riff raff, AND, we could get those sweet veteran player rewards so I could ride around on an eyeball in my man-kini swimsuit.
I was hoping that if they did any compensation, it would come in the form of a mount or a minion.
At any rate, it shows that they care and are paying attention. And as a customer, I greatly appreciate that. I don't say this often without sarcasm, but thanks Square Enix. I genuinely mean that.
