One thing I think _every_ dragoon needs to experience is this.

-Use Disembowel in every fight even if you don't intend on finishing the combo (note you _dont_ have to finish a combo).

Try this experiment, as I have done it many many times in groups and am amazing at the difference (note this experiment is to test Disembowel not to maximize DPS):

First: Heavy Thrust > True Thrust > Vorpal Thrust > Life Surge > Full Thrust (note the damage on the crit)

Second: Impulse Drive > Disembowel > True Thrust > Vorpal Thrust > Life Surge > Full Thrust (note how much more damage it is on the crit even without Heavy Thrust)

Third: Heavy Thrust > Impulse Drive > Disembowel > True Thrust > Vorpal Thrust > Life Surge > Full Thrust (look at how your #'s are 40% higher than the first experiment)


Every Dragoon, please use Disembowel, it is amazing. Thank you. Also against FATE bosses, every dragoon using it contributes to every other Dragoon's DPS. So stack that disembowel!

Hmmm I'm gonna have to try that. It is interesting because the way i'm stacking my buffs I try to maximize their effectiveness across my highest potency skills. I'm gonna be giving that a whirl for when Life Surge is up and power surge is down. I agree completely and please use Feint while you're at it Dragoons! Healers and tanks will appreciate you :P!

You're right, I rarely use AoE moves and leg sweeps go towards getting chaos thrust off. A perfect party play example is Vale's Final Boss. When she spawns her seedlings I use Heavy Thrust > Life Surge > Ring of Talons and crit them all.

Is Dragonfire Dive the only DRG specific AoE, I've only just now unlocked DRG so I'm not sure but it seems like MNKs AoE, is gotten earlier on and has a lower cooldown, easier to spam. Could MNK out AoE DRG using LNC and MRD affinity skills?

Edit: Nvm see that no AoE skills are available through affinity for MNK so DRG takes the cake, well prolly WAR truly but DRG gets big +'s for awesomeness

Ok here's a question wiki's aren't helping me answer due to outdated info from the previous versions, when does DRG get some awesome armor, is it not until 50? I just turned 30 and am wearing lvl 26-29 armor, love the way I look now except for my helmet but I really want some iconic armor.

Is crafted armor any good, I plan to lvl armorer for materia/repairs but will probably get on it sooner if there's anything good to be had from it, in my experience armor is too replaceable and crafted gear is always the lowest tier after vendor and is generally surpassed by quest rewards. (In other mmo's I've played)

try using the disembowel combo before heavy thrust ... u get more uptime for the full thrust combo out of this
