    Control / MP Efficiencies

I'm a little confused on this thread, people are calling out issues on Scholar that I've had no issues with whatsoever up to level 38.

I've wiped once in a dungeon - mostly due to not understanding a boss mechanic. Take that out, I've never wiped in a dungeon at all. I've also never had an issue with mana, and furthermore I've used TWO MP Ethers the *entire time I've played the game*.

What is all of this about how our spells cost too much? Don't spam skills, it's not hard. Every party I'm in is impressed with the scholar as a healer.

The fairy control doesn't matter much to me. Yes, she sort of does her thing but it's usually helpful. I'm able to watch who she is targeting and react accordingly. I see no compelling reason to micromanage her.

I personally love the Scholar. Bane is wonderful for AoE, Ruin II is great for minor DPS (can't complain about the blind add effect either).

While I agree that the Faerie is fine on her own. I don't see why people don't micromanage her. I don't see a problem with the class, again stating I love playing the class. But being able to pre-heal big hits is important for me, and being able to pick and choose who my faerie is going to heal is as well. I prioritze my heals if everyone is taking damage and so being able to choose my targets is important. I've healed dungeon bosses that should have been wipes due to lack of knowledge on fights so I in no way feel I'm underpowered. I love the healing, but for someone who has a little bit of an OCD tendency, I like to manage everything my character is capable of. Again, minor tweaks, and this class will be perfect in my mind, and FFXIV healing is leaps and bounds more fun than other dungeons because of having to use the pet and placement being important

WHM are solid, and when shit hits the fan their healing throughput shatters what scholars are capable of (at a massive MP cost). But they aren't much fun to play sadly... And some of their mechanics are plain stupid (ie Overcure)

Same here. I am going to level up my Scholar as well. No point in playing an inferior class. The good news is I am sure they will either buff Conj or Nerf Scholar but balance changes are usually a long time coming.

ya i dont expect any quick balance changes, especially from square. my friend made a summoner, maybe sooner or later he will want to be a healer then i can just go level a bard or something.... dont really want to play a 2nd class citizen

I noticed your avatar says you're a level 17 Conjurer (although I know it's not accurate as it doesn't reflect my class/job correctly when I post, idk why). I just thought I'd mention that Conjurer to level 34 is actually still useful for a Scholar as it allows you to use Stoneskin.... So it's not wasted at all, if you were thinking of switching jobs to Scholar.

    Side note:

I was in a group that one shot Garuda last night with me healing as Scholar. Incredibly fun fight.. Rouse is amazing.

As a ACN dpser, I saw a healer gain healing aggro on a boss crab's minions in Costa Del Sol. I have AoE offensive spells so I can't take them all off her but I couldn't sic my carbuncle on them either while in mid cast and every second counts. Role Playing or not, some of us need to multitask for the safety of our group, and to change the target for our pets on a whim. This really is a pain, albeit bearable. I don't normally play a pet class but when I do I hotkey attack and stop for my pet so whatever mob I choose needs to do as it's told.

I originally had Scholar as my goal...but I actually got addicted to WHM levelling for Stoneskin...so now I just want to level ACN for Eye for an Eye skill.

White Mage does have a few things that are nicer than Scholar....Repose for example and Fluid Aura are great crowd control skills. But....

Freecure is nothing like the Scholar's Procs....it always activates when you don't need it lol. And if you plan on saving the proc...and start using it when it nearly expires (when you might need to) it still uses the MP.

And at the moment THM acts as a good cross-class for both but it doesn't have the utility CNJ and ACN both offer; dot's debuffs and heals...which is a shame xD

I healed Brayflox as SCH last night..not fun. It all went fine until the final boss we took 3 tries to kill. The lack of a way to remove poisons really hurt, I had to give up placing my fairy because I spent too much time moving her out of poison and not enough healing, worked better just chasing the tank around.

Probably would've gone better if the DDs didnt keep standing in the poison making me have to heal them as well. Whenever I stopped spam healing the tank, he nearly died.

I imagine once I have succor and leeches it will be smoother, was still fun though
