    Arcanist wasn't in 1.0, and Gladiator had some pretty nice survivability buffs that were cross-class. Namely, Sentinel which cut down damage taken by like 10-20% for a short time, which was useful in surviving big unavoidable hits like Hellfire in the Hard/Extreme fights.
