Nope.It says that the collision part is only the very first step of a deeper redesign process of the maps. They never mentioned gridania per-se, as far as I know.
Thats what I was saying, I mean yes map changes are coming. I just don't see how people are connecting it to Gridania. It's the hype wagon returning, with high levels of speculation with no real basis behind it. I think that its to all zones. As someone said I don't think it will be a full redesign, don't get me wrong I want a full map redesign, expecially in Grid. I just don't understand where people are getting this new map feature, if anything they will be adding a new area to Black Shroud, not redesigning what is out.

I doubt it would be published on the front page if it was simply lore. But how small or big the things to come are, I do not know.
I've already answered this.
Each file in the system contains huge chunks of the game, some are encrypted. The encrypted ones even if they only change 1 letter in the file they have to redownload the whole file.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
See, that's what I'm thinking. I realize that Yoshida's post talked mainly about collisions, but that's the closest post I could find relating to what Arcell was trying to find, as I don't recall there ever being an official post about complete redesign. I think people started plugging this into Google Translate (of which I'm also guilty, don't get me wrong) and saw the word "redesign" and just went with it. This + so many people wanting a redesign led to this false information being spread like wildfire, and now it's widely "accepted" on these forums that a complete redesign of The Black Shroud is underway. The article released today only serves to add more fuel to the fire.Thats what I was saying, I mean yes map changes are coming. I just don't see how people are connecting it to Gridania. It's the hype wagon returning, with high levels of speculation with no real basis behind it. I think that its to all zones. As someone said I don't think it will be a full redesign, don't get me wrong I want a full map redesign, expecially in Grid. If anyone can provide a link to where this has been stated, by all means, I'd love to be proven wrong. I'm all for changing The Black Shroud. I just don't recall there ever being an official statement.
Yoshida states that *the maps* (generic), will be drastically redesigned. So it's realistic to think that Black Shroud may be the first to undergo that process. The post that has been linked wasn't even "mainly" about collisions. Collisions are pointed at only in a passing note towards the end.
I really hope every time there is a major fix or event, the team creates a story to back it up or ties it into the overall storyline.
EDIT: People are mostly connecting it to Gridania and the Black Shroud because sidequests in game keep speaking of rumors that Black Shroud will be the first place to be attacked by Garlean forces.
