Started a thread regarding this in beta and was met with an army of white knights flaming. While I like to defend what I think is a good game I just don't understand people defending the few things that could be improved and improved easily. The dev team responded to a previous question on this subject with the reply that the system was working as intended. I'd much rather we could sell singles from a stack like in 1.0.

same here made a few post about a few things but got flamed for pointing it out.
people rather stick with a limited system then one that works great.

just like SE removed the quest tracking box where you can choose which quest you want to track in beta phase 3.

I don't really want to buy a stack of 999 thunder shards for 800k gold or whatever, when all I need is one to craft something as a Weaver.

I had absolutely no problems selling shards/crystals back in 1.0 with people only buying what they needed from me. I like being able to buy the exact amount I want and I would like my buyers to be able to buy the exact amount they want from me.

The thing to consider is that while this is an issue for some people and not for others, the chance that it will be identified and acknowledged may or may not exist. Bringing it up is totally fine. You are entitled to your opinion on all aspects of this game. Allow me to provide some advice: be proactive about it. Now that you know the problem exists for you, you can take charge of it.

You don't have to just sell 1 or 99. You'll have to do some extra work by splitting the stacks, but you'll probably find that it pays off better. Sell stacks at varying numbers. So, put some up for 1. Put up 10. You can string it out. Not only will that work better for you, but you'll be able to spot trends. If you sold at 1, 10, 20, 33, 66, and 99, you could see what's the most commonly sold amount. You can make more of those stacks versus more of another, so that you don't have product just sitting on the Market waiting to be purchased.

Here's the thing, new players have no idea how we used to sell items in 1.0 so they will be like "oh this is fine", where as those of us who played 1.0 realise what has been taken away from the market selling and buying.

I made a post in the market-ward thread, please like it if you agree, so we can get this changed.

Funny isn't it, I think its less white knights and more devious people trying to take advantage of buyers though.

well as it is right now, it at least enables you to do "discounts" on larger stacks.
now you can go telling people to buy more than they need to, just because of "value"... while waiting for them fix the whole thing/add the feature back in.

The best option to be able to sell ANY amount a buyer wants is use BINARY NUMBERS
Put up stacks that each one is different power of 2 and buyer can buy any number he wants. Then seller can replace sold "bits".

You guys dont get it. Dont buy the 99 then, buy the 1 at a few extra gil. If you could sell a stack, one item at a time, what would the market look like? Think about it for a second. Iron ingot, for instance. 28 listings earlier. most around 40, some at 100 highest, some at 15 lowest.

Iron Ore costs 18 per off vendor, 3 makes 1 iron ingot. Thats 54, base price per ingot. Most BS/AS will make and deal with hundreds of iron ingots.

Now imagine the system working how you say it should- 5 stacks of 99 Iron Ingots, 60 per. Okay, well I HAVE to sell mine too right? So I put them at 59, then its 58, 57, 56, 55- FREE!!! JUST BUY MINE AND NOT THE OTHER GUYS!!!!

As it is ive been in the MIDDLE of the Market board (not highest price, not lowest price) and sold my items because I made the right sale choice. If it was the way you suggest, the whole system would fail miserably.

Bring back Market wards and Bazaars!!! Thatll fix it!!!

    Good point !

Oh wait no its not, cause undercutting is already happening, doesn't matter the size of the stack, most people will undercut just to get on the top of the list and sell their items the fastest.

Excellent counter point, oh wait no its not because if they sell their items faster then mine can be sold too. If they have an endless supply of said items, the lowest price WILL ALWAYS BE THE ONLY PRICE BOUGHT AT. They can put down 20 stacks of 99, ensuring NO ONE will ever sell that item again.

Do you people even use your brains around here?
