FFXIV: ARR Metacritic Scores

Currently at a solid 7.1 form user reviews. It has an overwhelmingly positive response with the exception of the "0" scores from people who couldnt log in during Early Access. I think if you discount the reviewers who couldnt log in, overall the game has good reception from the gaming community.

lol ^^ simply following the link will show why it won't "plummet", there are already enough people with 0's because they couldn't handle the fact they paid 30 bucks for something that doesn't instantly work perfectly.

Metacritic user reviews are quite possibly the most useless way in the universe to assess a game's quality. Either you have people giving a game 0's because the main character's hair is the wrong color, or you have people giving it 10's even though they've never played it.

Does anybody, anywhere, take them seriously as purchasing advice?

I wonder, does this only apply to video games? I cant think of any other product taking money from people and NOT allowing them to use the product is kosher.
At what point does this become unacceptable? There is talk of next week new servers for the Japanese cluster. So is a week of not being able to play long enough til we can complain? Now that's best case as far as we know right now. How long should our patience be?

Instead of just rolling over and accepting that there are a lot of people that want to play this game that cannot, why not demand communication. What is wrong with asking when we are going to be able to play? Stop defending this treatment or it will always be the norm.

If I were to rate the game out of 10 so far i would give it an 8 even with the issues and lack of a response from SE.

The poor reviews that have stuff to do with the servers, not the game, are not very helpful. Just like Amazon reviews, people who focus on something that isn't part of the actual product (the game), will just not be looked at well.

Yeah, the servers are currently a problem, but they're actively working on fixing it. Heck, by next week, the servers are planning on being expanded. Obviously temporary problems for a game that works fine (the problem isn't bugs) affecting a score is pointless hate. Thankfully, a lot of people know that. And no, this isn't the same as Sim City criticism, a game that can clearly work offline and away from server reliance.

I agree but the fact is Metacritic is used by almost every major outlet for measuring a games quality. Even Steam links its games to Metacritic scores for users who are wondering if they should purchase a game or not. Maybe SE needs to get with the 20th century and let Steam market this game for them.

idk man I don't work at metacritic cool story though. looks like the game is pretty successful, does that upset you?

To be fair there are a lot of people who are bad at reviews. A 1/5 shouting "1017" is just as bad as a 5/5 "I love it."
