In this case though, the wait is purely a hindrance. There is no need at all to zone to the different wards and search through several different retainers to find the lowest price for an item.

What are some advantages you see to keeping the wards as they are, Kaedan? How would keeping the zoning in / out and searching different retainers individually be better than searching for x item by visiting a main source like an NPC tied to all retainers?

I honestly just cant see how making the system faster and easier to use would make it worse in this case >.>

You dont have to search for the price, it tells you before you even enter the wards, who is selling what, and at what price. the npcs that have the item have a star, and thier dot is pink on the screen.
You also dont have to leave the ward your in to do another search, chances are, if your looking for a similar item, its also somewhere in the same ward you are in, since similar items are generally grouped together.

An instant buying system is convienent, but it has no potential for growth. Market wards do. Anyhow as i ve said multiple times, MW is better than ffxi AH, if they had market wards like this in ffxi, most people wouldnt use the AH, because its more expensive and there is a risk if your item isnt sold of losing the tax money. The only problem with bazaars was lack of search, they basically solved that. In fact last i saw, bazaar was overtaking AH for many items.

you dont see the value of Market wards because you are primarily a warrior/adventurer people with merchantile dreams and desires to play the market game have more possibilities and options with a market ward.

possibilities include
More retainer customization
advertising added
possible addition of Player shops
new and different market zones, (imagine a beach zone marketward)
new systems for setting up meetings (perhaps a bulletin board in your shop/retainer/counter saying a player will be around from this time to this time to do crafting requests, or repairs.

The market system right now, isnt that crazy, but it has the potential to be a powerful and immerssive system for economy, community, and a different type of advancement. Meanwhile AH is just AH, its basically the limit of what it can do.
